I'm thinking of where I've seen hopeful messages that engage young voters by promising them a better future and committing to material improvements to society in the last decade, and how studiously major parties ignore or oppose those politics.

A lot of ad hoc, unrelated news stories over the last few weeks and govt policy over the last term while watching my kids step out into early adulthood and I’ve been feeling this vibe for a while but not known what it really was until this post nails it.

We treat kids like shit in this country. We treat women and queer people like shit. We don’t provide social safety nets for families or people experiencing violence at home. Happening in an ableist society during a mass-disabling event. Why is anyone surprised that we are seeing low birth rates?

I finally, FINALLY watched The Lobster. Hilarious and by Gods, they were all so so cruel. Much was made (and shown! And said!) from characters acting simply. Fave bit was the night raid

I do not rate TOP as much of anything - totally untested and unproven, a ways off 5% - but the very thought of some young upstart coming in and messing up Winston and his crown-anointing could be worth a regret or three… #nzpol rattle ya dags, Winnie!

Our Finance minister talks about the national economy in household terms, this government calls itself the business party. If i chose to reduce the income of my house, or my business, and then cut spending so we couldnt invest or have nice things, my wife and my business partners would leave me.

Got an email reply from my local MP which I wasn’t expecting but it was a great response. I asked them to do something (simple noise, advocacy) on behalf of someone else who needs a hand and the MP did, following up with a question to the appropriate ministry and sending me the reply.

This push for age-verification and VPN bans is driven by social media company lobby groups. The goal is to prevent people from hiding their online activity and then selling that behavioral data.
