Watching a WWII documentary. During a scene supposed to be a historical commentary on a Nazi crematorium, the host had a trauma response and didn't end up saying much, but that ended up more impactful than if he just rattled off details of Nazi genocide.

I think Disney's first gay character is likely The Reluctant Dragon. "Scary monster that acts mellow" is translated as "man with stereotypical gay traits". Being taught to act fearsome is then about being taught to act macho.

*idly reads an Aristophanes play I'd already dismissed as relevant to my history of forcedfem* *sees obvious forcedfem* D'oh! Well, I'm adding a revisionary video between The Bacchae and Timaeus because Aristophanes' spiritual sequel to Women at the Thesmophoria has that one element repeated. 🤦‍♀️

I've watched a number of breakdowns of problems with Harry Potter, and I have yet to see anyone address the issue of boarding schools traditionally being abusive and making kids attracted to the idea of being sent there is as problematic as the films encouraging people to buy owls.

People struggle to get a read on Ovid. Some call him a misogynist. Some call him a feminist. I think he was a deeply empathetic, psychologically aware sexual sadist who was exclusively attracted to women. He wrote respectful insights into the female mind and also indulged in domination fantasies.

It seems like the quality of chicken in fast food restaurants has diminished extremely in the past few months. What was once a go-to staple is now an "avoid at all costs". I am reminded of Orwell's discussion of the quality of cigarettes going down in his allegory for Nazi Germany/the Soviet Union.

I never really got the appeal of the Clue movie, but as I'm watching more queer cinema and seeing old movies with overt queer themes followed by aggressive heterosexual endings, the gay-coded guy in Clue announcing he's going to go home and have sex with his wife at the end seems funnier.

Bluesky makes me extremely tense. Im going to start unfollowing people who talk about tense subjects a lot. If we're mutuals, nothing personal. I just need to distance myself from some politics for my mental health.

*studies Euripides* This guy has the same sense of humor as Joss Whedon! *watches 1993 film of a Euripides play* *sees the same fancy choreography as in an episode of Buffy* Did... Joss borrow that?

I'm working on a review of Faking It, the MTV lesbian dramady with an intersex character. It isn't great outside of gay and lesbian representation, but it did succeed in intersex visibility.

I feel like the issue with people not being able to interpret literature well might be about them not being taught to think philosophically. Are they encouraged to question everything? Are they encouraged to argue dialectically? 🤔

How's this for a weird Rick and Morty theory? I think Scott Marder, the showrunner who replaced Justin Roiland, is into forcedfem. Little gags about Morty being femininzed showed up during the season five transition between the two's roles, where previously there were none.
