There’s a really lofty goal that Kaine is working on: to help make a world that won’t need the Warrior of Light anymore. Even he knows he can’t play hero forever, and he also has his life to get back to. So he’ll try to make sure that he does enough for the star that he won’t be as needed anymore.

My stupid delulu hopium for PLD in Evercold is that Imperator and the Confiteor blades combo gets a new visual effect that gives the Paladin angel wings so we can float looking all angelic and badass while we rain blades from the heavens on our foes.
(Answering again for the other wolship) Sphene can tell apart the fakes from the real Kaine by how they treat her. Formality will give the fakes away, since Kaine eschews all the decorum by her request, not wanting to have any imbalance in their relationship whatsoever.

How does their partner immediately discern who the real one is? What do they do?
Way too easy for Shtola lol, she can just check the aether and immediately separate Kaine from the imposters. Also, he has a generally relaxed demeanor and is very affectionate with his lover, so she can separate the impostors from the real deal just by observing how he acts with her.
