Amanda Mull@amandamull.bsky.social · 2w agoThis is the same old "you can't solve weightlifting with a forklift" thing that happens again and again with current consumer uses of AI: the point of reading a book is not to finish the book easily, it's to READ the book, especially if the book asks you to do something that feels difficult
I dunno if this is really a bad use case for AI, at least they’re trying to read a book. An activity that we should keep in mind that is rapidly dying out among younger people. On the other hand, idk if reading The Last of the Mohicans is the best use of your time

Cooper Lund@cooperlund.online · 3w agoDriving a car is incredibly dangerous, it should be one of the most regulated experiences on earth, and it is very upsetting to watch people who correctly don’t trust the cops turn against automated enforcement because the alternative is relying on a cop’s judgement to enforce the laws.

But Flock being used for ICE stuff when the city paying for the equipment hasn’t agreed to that is a legit objection to the firm.

To give some non-tech people an insight into how this is happening: the AI hopium sphere has been blogging incessantly about LLM “dark factories” where you give some ill defined task to an LLM which is authorized to spin up as many “agents” as it likes to complete the task.

I hope people can more widely understand that guys who write books called “The Future of Truth” are masterclass bullshitters and that reading this stuff is a total waste of time
