as my joblessness continues, i've now spent like 2 days configuring a new neovim install from scratch. the only way this could get more dire than recompiling the linux kernel with a patch, is if it were emacs instead. but maybe i'll become a weird neovim guy!
The timing of this kind of press is intentional. How are they going to make these games when Bethesda and Obsidian collectively laid off hundreds? Don’t fall for it.

since i've had two people ask me if i still have a job today, nothing has happened yet AFAICT. i do think it will be bad, but i don't buy the current sets of rumors. if it hits me i should be more than fine for a good long time (esp if union is able to help) so worry for others!
i don't think i'll ever have a professional legacy that anyone beyond me or my friends will know or care about, but if i do, i want it to be the compass in quake 2. i fucking love that thing and how well it worked, and its opt in nature especially as the Yellow Paint Discourse continues.

my hot take: vampire crawlers plays more like a solitaire game than a deckbuilder
found a whole operation of unmanned youtube channels making completely unchecked long form slop videos where the ai voice simulacra regularly trips up & does this for a full ten minutes every time. all the very legit comments are like "NO! THATS NOT TRUE! YOU LIE HE DID NOT" & never acknowledge it.
a game idea for an audience of 4: multiplayer car combat that requires you to have a steering wheel, pedals, and sinden light gun. one hand on wheel, other hand on gun, foot for pedals. it'd be the best car combat game ever made and absolutely nobody would ever get to play it. i want it so bad.
i love/hate when the shorthand for "computer code" in media is "lets just grab some html source" it always sticks out like a sore thumb. just throw some random x86 asm in there!

i'm not sure how much i'm liking the game yet, but holy crap the ui design and general aesthetic in the new marathon is just incredible. just some absolutely bold choices, bright colors, and really going into that kind of 80s vaporwave aesthetic. nothing else like it in AAA games at least
