Sad news, unfortunately my time at CIO has come to an end. I’m looking at new opportunities doing fun things with email. If you’d like to work together or know of any suitable jobs going please drop me a message. I’m also open to short term gigs while I look for the right opportunity.

AXS tickets are terrible. I got an email, none of the images loaded and half the links didn't work. Carefully worked out it was maybe legit, but didn't follow the links directly. Need to download an app to get my tickets, so did that. And signed in.
Love this write up about the @emailmarkup.org accessibility report from @srhdesign.co.uk Thanks for sharing 😁

I've been taking a bit of a dive in auto linking in email. It's one of those annoying issues that doesn't have one good fix, there is always some compromise. Hopefully this article will help you find the best (least bad) solutions for you. customer.io/learn/messag... #EmailGeeks
Email auto-linking: When it helps and how to fix it | customer.io
Auto-linking in email turns dates, numbers, and URLs into clickable actions—but not always the right ones. Here's how to prevent unwanted links without breaking accessibility.

New Outlook! Well we know what that means... New bugs! Oh great we're not using MS Word to render HTML anymore. Oh but now we have some weird inconsistent bugs. Fun. #EmailGeeks have learned that we can’t have nice things. customer.io/learn/messag...

Ok so enough about email and techy things, here are some fox cubs playing in my garden
I've been playing around with CSS random() in email. I'm loving the simplicity of the syntax, very intuitive to use, so i made a little fruit machine that creates a random result with every open. Here is the code, works in Safari and AppleMail 26.2+ parcel.io/e/0847bbd7-8... #EmilGeeks

Hey look, I deigned myself a new t-shirt with an email on it. Because I like email.
Ok I've done another video. Hey #EmailGeeks did you know over 80% of email clients support using grid and flex. That is true but it's clickbate, it's not quite as exciting or useful as it sounds, but I think there is still potential to do something cool with it. www.linkedin.com/posts/mjrobb...

Using display:flex and display:grid in email. Support is way better than you might think, over 80% of email clients support it. However... this is email so there are a few catches to that statement. ...

OK, I was pretty sceptical but i have to admit, I really loved @syntax.fm Mad CSS. I feel like I'm going to get a little too into this as this progresses 😆
Sorry I had to run off before the #SotB26 after party. Fatigue is hitting me very hard today. My pacing app is blowing up. Back in Shoreham now. Was great seeing everyone and meeting loads of new people. Until next time folks x
Loved this talk. I think I might have to borrow this, replace a space with a line break idea for our email minification. Outlook also doesn't like long lines of text.
So they got their images, CSS and JS as small as they could. Could they minify their HTML? They only used line break characters, removed comments, removed whitespace. But IE didn't like the code all being on one line so they put a new line in first attribute of each element. #SotB26
Very much looking forward to #SotB2026 tomorrow, that came round fast! Very much dreading the early start for the long trek up north to the big city. Hope the trains wake up in time.
I was going to upload this video here too but it's over 100mb and I can't be bothered to compress it, so sharing the LinkedIn version. Anyway, here is a quick and cheesy video on Google force-dark mode and how I try and work with it in email. www.linkedin.com/posts/mjrobb... #EmailGeeks

Because of AI, it's getting harder to be a public educator on the internet. Devs are watching far fewer tutorials and buying fewer paid courses, making it financially tough for teachers. If you like a creator's content and can spare some cash, find out how you can support them.
I made this "ad" for one of Cursor's recent features. It finally solves the terrible problem of knowing CSS.
