In 2024 I released my novel, ‘Pods for Pigs’ about brothers living on a croft. One had a roving eye & misogynistic attitude, & was in conflict with his brother. I found a 2nd hand copy online with this description. Boy, they are going to be so disappointed when they read it!🤣

There was something particularly fitting today in visiting the grave of, and paying tribute to, the great author, Compton MacKenzie, who wrote so many wonderful novels which still entertain us, (eg. Whisky Galore, Monarch of the Glen, etc). #booksky

I’ve been very fortunate with the thoughtful reviews readers have left for An t-Eilean Dorcha (The Dark Island). This one on Goodreads struck me because of its reflections on island life & community. Thankyou to those who take the time to write reviews. These are what keep us writing. #booksky

Grateful for the opportunity yesterday to pitch my 9th novel, ‘Parallel Experiences’ on #QuestPit Thankyou for the kind comments but still no literary agent interest. Wishing all the wonderful authors I met through the event every success.

When I wrote An t-Eilean Dorcha (The Dark Island) in 2024/5, it wasn’t easy to evidence the underlying reason driving more and more wind farm developments in Scotland. Here it is: Build data centres in Scotland not London, says Britain’s energy grid boss. www.ft.com/content/7f85...

Looking forward today to being interviewed for a ‘Fitz of Writing’ episode on YouTube. Will be talking about my eighth novel, ‘An t-Eilean Dorcha (The Dark Island)’ about the wind rush and the effect on the islanders caught up in it. It will be streamed on the 22nd of July.

The hardest thing about writing, ‘An t-Eilean Dorcha’ was trying to write something humorous that didn’t undermine those who face this battle, while also trying not to undermine the need to address climate change, by those that seek to deny it: amzn.eu/d/iCgVKon
