The latest story from the #QuattrocoloLab fulfills a long time dream. Are #CajalRetzius cells important for the maturation of spatial navigation? It turns out that superficial pyramidal cells in CA1 care much more about CR cells postnatal presence that deep pyramidal cells.

Spatial representation in CA1 superficial pyramidal cells is impaired after postnatal ablation of hippocampal Cajal Retzius cells https://www.biorxiv.org/content/10.64898/2026.03.24.711525v1

Please check out and RT this new position for an exciting collaborative project with @boninlab.bsky.social and @franckp.bsky.social on the links between human-specific mechanisms and neurodevelopmental disorders in cortical circuits.

Please repost widely. @vanderhaeghenp2.bsky.social and I are hiring a postdoc with expertise in sensory physiology and in vivo circuit imaging/manipulation. The project centers on human-specific brain development and SYNGAP1-related disorders. Call closing soon—apply ASAP jobs.vib.be/j/119852/pos...

#QuattrocoloLab preprint out 👇! We explored changes in the proteome of hippocampal and dentate gyrus growth cones at early postnatal stages. We see that at P1 growth cones from the two subregions are very similar, but start to diverge from P3, with HP growth cones maturing earlier then DG ones.

I am looking for a postdoc with an immunology background interested in joining a Yale neuroscience lab to study how the brain controls immunity. At Yale, we have a wonderful interdisciplinary & collaborative #neuroimmune community. Please reach out or share with anyone who might be interested!

An in-house collaboration between the #QuattrocoloLab and the #NigroLab. Beautiful images and very interesting data collected.

I fell in love with neurophysiology because of the beautiful biophysical properties of stellate cells pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/8395571/ Finally I go back to these cells and put biocytin in them and what a wonderful surprise Stained and imaged by Kristian Moan @gquattrocolo.bsky.social #neuroskyence

I love this series of articles on @dev-journal.bsky.social! It was an honor to be interviewed for it. #QuattrocoloLab @kavlintnu.bsky.social

Transitions in development – an interview with Giulia Quattrocolo @gquattrocolo.bsky.social talks about how she became interested in neural development, how she developed her research niche during her time in the USA, and her childhood ambitions to become a volcanologist: doi.org/10.1242/dev....

So happy to share the second manuscript of the #QuattrocoloLab. This was a side project of a fantastic PhD student, Kristian Moan, that saw something cool in his data and presented it in our annual lab retreat in 2024. Now the whole story sees the light of day. 1/3

I agree with everything! I try to cultivate and promote this in the #QuattrocoloLab. And perhaps this is also why I love to study development: it has rooms for all these subfields. But sometimes it is also harder when you don’t perfectly fit in any category.

Neuroscience subfields are often siloed. Embracing an integrative approach during training can help change that, Austin Coley explains: www.thetransmitter.org/craft-and-ca...
