Photo showing the size difference between the Italian Triganini (left) and it's descendant, the English Modena. By 1327 the city of Modena in Italy had codified and regulated the flying "sport", where rival flocks captured individuals from each. The German Modena is also descended from the Triganino

Photo shows two domestic varieties of pigeon, a Triganino and an English Modena, the latter descended from the former. #pigeonsky

This is the same pigeon, photographed after consecutive moults. This is the effect of the Stipper modifier. All of the alleles at this locus have this effect, gradually returning to wild type pigmentation. This is a sex-linked modifier, all of these alleles are dominant to wild-type. #pigeonsky

Being as it is St Swithin's day today. I post this a lot, I know. Pre-Raphaelite artist William Holman Hunt painted this sometime between 1866-75. His sister began the work but abandoned it and Hunt completed it. I think it's awesome. "The Festival of St Swithin" #pigeonsky

This Standard rose at my front door, I think the variety is "Birthday Girl", was quite sparse and falling over when I first moved in about 5 years ago. I strapped it to a support and got rid of the ants, pruned it quite hard for the first three years. It looked good last year and I didn't prune it.
