Two years ago today we said goodbye to Roscoe. @kathietouin.bsky.social and I have been tidying his grave. Domino kept guard. #Orkney
Today I took the ferry from Stromness, #Orkney to Scrabster, #Caithness for a day trip in glorious sunshine.
A glorious sunny warm day in #Orkney - went with @kathietouin.bsky.social to Kierfiold House where the garden was open for charity.
The swallows from our garage have fledged - there are 10 or 12 flying about outside, can't all be from that nest surely. #Orkney
The cactus which was a gift from my late mother years ago has flowered regularly since moving to #Orkney in 2010 - and here it goes again ...
Our seats in the beautiful St Magnus Cathedral for a lunchtime cello and piano recital by Gudmundsdottir and Preat - which was fantastic (part of the St Magnus International Festival). And it will be broadcast on BBC Radio 3 soon. #Orkney
(Only two days late). All my love @kathietouin.bsky.social on our 23rd wedding anniversary - and thank you. Domino and Roscoe say thank you as well.
Great news! Six weeks after his hip replacement op Domino has the go-ahead from the vet surgeon to be out of his crate and starting to exercise. And he has a new dinosaur toy which @kathietouin.bsky.social bought for him. #Orkney
Isn't nature wonderful? A pile of stones left over from building the Polycrub now has flowers. #Orkney
Trees, bushes, flowers and grasses in our overgrown enclosure - but it's busy with birds and voles. #Orkney
A group of us gathered last night to remember the 737 men who died when HMS Hampshire sank just off the #Orkney coast 110 years ago on 5 June 1916 ...
Tonight a group will gather to commemorate the 737 men who died when HMS Hampshire sank just off the coast of #Orkney in 1916 ...
I think our farmer neighbour might be diversifying into new food markets: this morning a tractor came past the barn below our house towing a trailer with 10 or 12 adults standing on it. I wasn't quick enough to get a photo, sorry.
A trip down memory lane. I recently bought a tube of Euthymol toothpaste which I remember as a child. It is still sold as "The UK's Original Toothpaste" but the small print says "Made in Korea". Kathie thinks the toothpaste smells funny anyway.
Highly recommended: a visit to the Scottish Fisheries Museum in Anstruther ...
