Old, boring and glad to be here. Parent to three grown children. Trying to give up comics, but they keep pulling me back in.
Oh, for the love of...now? Is it time to rise up now?
And these savages have the balls to talk about how twisted Iran is????
Oh, I do. Now, the challenge is making everyone else believe.
My curse of choice on a daily basis.
“Drat,” said Toad.
That. No witty comments. Nothing political or comic related that needed to be shared. Only quiet, gentle kindness. Just that.
Thank you Canada.
You know who really did show up? Canadian police officers, firefighters, and medical personnel came to NYC, on and off duty, traveling independently or in groups to stand with Americans and help shoulder the enormous burden of recovery and cleanup at Ground Zero. www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...
To all my union sisters and brothers...thank you. And check your voter registration!!!!

Let's remember to thank Gander, Newfoundland (and all of Canada) for their kindness. And c'mon U.S., let's sock it to the bone-heads who've set us on this current path. (You all know what they've done and continue to do in front of us and the rest of the world.)
Hey Part Owners Of Canada(POOCS) Today is a good day, while we near the anniversary of 9/11, and while Americans dwell on the events of that day, that we MUST remind them, on their posts, of what CANADA did for them on that dreadful day. Let's not let them forget
Having only read three out of 100 provides me a new reading challenge. Challenge accepted. 😀
100 novels by women that SHOULD be considered for high placement in the 20th century literary canon (some of these already are, like Mrs. Dalloway, To Kill a Mockingbird, etc-- but many are unknown to many readers): #BookSky
Chant with me..."We're number 20 (and 1), we're number 20 (and 1)..."
Well...
This means something. This is important.

Today is the birthday of Wilbert Holloway (Aug. 11, 1899-April 1969), a cartoonist & illustrator who created the comic strip Sunny Boy Sam. It was the second longest running strip in the Black press, lasting 41 years. His 1927 editorial cartoon below is titled "Seeing Yourself as Others See You."
Oh for the love of....
Florida again. Dengue fever. What's next? The bubonic plague? Goes well with the current round of leprosy. Lets toss in the bird flu, screw worm and no COVID vaccines. Didn't the hantavirus get Gene Hackman's wife? Really? What really is next for this shit hole? www.tampabay.com/news/health/...
Shouting it out loud as a proud union member....Preach!
Look at this graph. The share of national income going to the richest 10 percent was lowest (and share to lower 90 percent highest) when union membership was at its highest. As unions have weakened, inequality has widened. This is why we must build back union power.
Now I've got a "hankering" to pull my own copy off the shelf and dive back in for a re-read.
Sometimes you have to be at the right place in your life for a book to make a true connection. This sat on a shelf for 20 years, in 5 houses, on 2 coasts before I finally cracked it open. I honestly don’t think I would have understood it as well if I had read it before I was 50. #booksky
