@typescript.fm In Ep 72, 58:20, you discussed double pain windows that have fog between the panes. FYI that can be fixed. call your local glass specialist, tell them that you have fog and want to research a new glass pack. They’ll come out to measure. Ask for an estimate. Mine have been ~$300

At work we software developers use Copilot as an assistant. We all know about the copilot pricing “changes”. It’s the 3rd day of the month and I just reached my credit limit. I was told to ask IT for an increase. I’ll see how this goes

Cleaned garage floor after gas spill and corresponding sticky residue. Power washed floor. Power washer pump needs a new Unloader valve because when I let off of spray wand trigger the engine stalls out. Saw a great YT vid about rebuilding the pump and what parts tend to wear out.

A Simpson power washer pump. There are three check valves under those three-in-a-row plugs. Plus there are three more check valves inside of the head/manifold. The one brass looking part all by itself is a temperature release valve.

Giving a presentation about PLC ladder logic this week. Made a faux system to control. A minion wash - a car wash but for minions. There are 3 inputs (big red run/stop switch, payment accepted, test) and 6 outputs (enter/exit indicator, wet down, soap, radial scrubber, dangly scrubber, rinse/dry)

Decided on a suitable platform for the faux control system components. Built a conveyer that works well enough Wires for minion wash. 3 inputs (run/stop, payment accepted, test) and 6 outputs (enter indicator, wet down, soap, radial scrubber, dangly scrubber, rinse/dry)

had time this wkend to work on time-to-hot plumbing proj. Converting 3/4” copper trunks to individual 1/2” PEX-A. the 7 individual runs are in place & are terminated on the manifold. Next I’ll tie in the manifold to the 3/4” copper from hot water heater (manifold currently held in place w ty-wraps)

An 8-port PEX-A manifold (that’s made from (2) 4-port manifolds). Ea w a quarter-turn shutoff valve. The 8th port is a spare and is capped off. This is for hot water and so the PEX pipe is red. Where the pipe bends sharply 90 degree brackets are used. The manifold is adjacent to 3/4” copper hot water line and is currently held in place with Ty-wraps. 4 ports go left and 4 ports go right.

Daughter said he jeep’s rear defroster stopped working. We discovered one terminal had torn off the horizontal conductive silver(?) buss. We cleaned both surfaces and successfully soldered it back together. Win 🏆

I had some time this afternoon to work on my basement plumbing project. Ran (3) 1/2” PEX-A pipes from manifold to east side of the house - kitchen sink, dishwasher, washing machine.

Helped daughter diagnose her refrigerator’s ice maker. Her model has a dedicated evaporator for the ice maker. A fan draws that cold air over the ice cube tray. That fan malfunctioned. We tested it on my bench. New fan from digikey.com $15, delivered. Some appliance part sites wanted ~$100+

Making a hot water PEX-A manifold - so I can remove long 3/4” copper runs and use 1/2 PEX instead. So fixtures get hot water quicker. Math says 3/4” copper ID versus 1/2” PEX ID is a ratio of 2.7 to 1

Homemade/custom PEX-A hot water manifold. It has two 4-port manifolds cascaded together. One is pointed to the left while the other is pointed to the right, which maps to the fixture locations, half on one side of the house, half on the other side of the house. All eight ports have a quarter-turn 1/2” PEX-A shut off valve. One end of the manifold is closed, while the other hand has a couple of 3/4” copper fittings that will adapt to existing hot water copper.

Helped install a combination washer dryer. On a kitchen. Because the gal can’t reasonably access the main laundry in the basement. Brought in hot cold drain and electric.

Replaced the main bearing in our clothes washer. Two steps were difficult: 1) finding trick to remove control panel from the top 2) separating/removing drum from main shaft I’m currently testing it. No weird noises nor leaks so far .
