I'm just here for the comics. AKA Cools-His-Hands.

I'm reading a self-published book, and the realisation is hitting me hard that editors are your dearest friends. You may feel like they're just pointing out all your mistakes (and some you may feel AREN'T mistakes), making you feel dumb, and an awful writer. Ignore that feeling.

There was a time in my life when I was able to just write. It wasn't the greatest, but it was pretty good. I started short stories with NO CLUE as to how they would end, and went with the flow. Now I have plans, a roadmap. I need to learn how to make that help instead of hurt.

Flexing my prose writing muscles. I'm really out of shape. Lots of self-doubt. Questioning and rewriting every paragraph. 😩 I guess the only way to go is forward though.

Went home for lunch, put a 5lbs roast in the oven at 225F with a probe that'll beep when the internal temp hits 125F. Now back at work. I have a pet cam in my lizard terrarium w/ audio, and I'm checking it every 15 min to test if I can hear beeping. Technology is wonderful!😃

If you had asked me at the beginning of the #worldcup "Hey, what two teams would you NOT want to see in the final? You can pick ANY two teams out of the entire slate." I would have picked Spain and Argentina without hesitation.

Bonnie Tyler's legacy is a bit strange considering that the older generation knows her best for "Total Eclipse of the Heart" which was all over the radio, while the younger generation knows her best for "Holding Out for a Hero" which got tons of montage play in animated films.

The memetic value of Kane Parsons including music from "Heartaches" in Backrooms was immense, and I don't see anyone talking about it. It shoehorned in all of the existential dread from Everywhere at the End of Time that, at least for me, echoed throughout the rest of the film.

Dear #Kickstarter creators. I am *begging* you. Do NOT use UPS when sending rewards from the USA to Canada. It may seem cheaper, it may seem faster, but not only does UPS take YOUR shipping money, they ALSO then extort the recipient for outrageous C.O.D. "fees". Please use USPS!

First non-Stego addition to the Dinosaucers wall. Two separate animation cels that just happened to pose really well together! Genghis Rex and Styraco.

A framed composite of two animation cels from the Dinosaucers cartoon show. On the left is Genghis Rex, and on the right is Styraco.A collection of five framed animation cels from the Dinosaucers cartoon. The framed animation cels are hanging on a green-blue wall in a corner. Four of the frames feature the character named Stego, while the remaining frame features the characters Genghis Rex and Styraco.

I have a box of watering globes for plants, and while my buddy was helping me rearrange stuff, he asked "hey, where do you want these plant bongs?" and now I can never not call them that.

I recently came into possession of a Studio Chizu figure of The Dragon / The Beast from Belle [竜とそばかすの姫, Ryū to Sobakasu no Hime] (2021) and watched the film for the first time. Visually, it's among the most beautiful films I've ever watched. Stunning.

NASA expects to lose contact with Artemis II Orion when it goes behind the moon this evening. Is this really still a thing? Aren't there satellites circling the moon these days? They can't be used for communication? Why isn't line-of-sight infrastructure in place by now? 🤔

Shout out to the ONE guy who remembers me at my local comic shop on #NCBD. With anyone else there, 90% of the time it's like this: Me: "Can I get my pull list?" Them: "Sure, name?" Me: "Brian" [They start looking in the "R" section for "Ryan"] Do I have a speech impediment?

I'm a sucker for any media with dragons in it, and Reincarnated as a Dragon Hatchling sounds like standard isekai fare on the surface. Yet it's the only property ever that I'm consuming in ALL formats (light novel, manga, AND anime), because it's just that good. 🥹

Nothing that happens this week can overshadow the resumption of human moon exploration with the launch of NASA Artemis II planned for Wednesday. Crazy that more people aren't talking about it. I guess everyone's waiting for the mission with the actual moon landing to get hyped.

I really feel like "good" is replacing "well" in common vernacular for a state-of-being, at least where I am geographically, and this makes me a little bit frustrated. "It turned out really good." "I'm doing good." "Everything's going good."

X: Here's a great artist to follow in your "Who to follow" suggestions! Me: Wow, their pfp looks great! I'll check them out! ... *95% of their feed is ranting against AI, and maybe 2% art posts* Me: Yeah, nah.

It's #NCBD! I've got around eleven comic book series I'm following, getting pulled at my local shop, and there's a big snowstorm today! In a strange, lucky coincidence, not a single one of those eleven series released an issue this week. Kind of a relief!

Got my #Spotify Wrapped today. Despite listening to Hevisaurus on repeat for almost the entire year, Spotify did not allow them to be mentioned EVEN ONCE. What's even the point if it's rigged this way and doesn't tell me the truth of what I listened to? I cancelled my account.

AI video generation tools are like having millions of dollars worth of Hollywood's best set directors, special effects crew, and acting talent, right at your fingertips. The only downside is that all of those super-elite people have the comprehension skills of a five-year-old.
