Since February, over two-thirds of the new collective bargaining agreement has been tentatively settled. This includes protecting the 4-day work week, fair comp time policies, and compensation for second languages on the job. But after 30 bargaining sessions, negotiations have stalled.
We’re in the middle of a marathon (16 hour!) bargaining week. We continue to push for a contract that recognizes the value we bring to LP. We hope this is the final stretch but are still prepared to strike if necessary! Here’s where we’re at on our top priorities:
The LP Guild is committed to a health and safety policy that reflects the needs of the unit and the organization while centering disability justice.
Thanks to the solidarity of Local Progress members at the National Convening, the LP Guild is finally seeing positive progress on our core demands for a successor contract! We are asking union-supporting LP members to help us sustain our momentum.
Earlier this month, Local Progress held its annual National Convening, where the LP Guild showed up for each other & our members. We believe in the mission of LP and the work our members do every day to support their constituents, which is why we are fighting for a fair contract!
Local Progress Guild members are prepared to use a time-honored tactic in the labor toolbox. We are willing to strike in our fight to win a fair contract! A supermajority of our unit voted to authorize the bargaining committee to call a one day strike.
Last week the LP Guild sent a strong message at our all-staff meeting: the 4 day work week makes our organization stronger. While many staff were out of office or participating in bargaining, the rest of the unit was united in holding up protest signs. 🪧
BARGAINING UPDATE: Management has proposed eliminating our 4 day work week, citing capacity, conflicting schedules, and availability to members. Taking away the 4DWW to address workload is like cutting staff to fix burnout—the logic doesn't follow. Here's what management said...
Hey! We’re the Local Progress Guild. We’re glad to be here! We’re in the middle of bargaining our new contract and it’s time to tell you all about it as a loud and proud union.
