For a while, I had a sneaking suspicion that the reason Monster Hunter Rise had a bias for the Long Sword, was because Onimusha Way of the Sword was in development. The free costumes you get in Onimusha are of Yomogi and Hinoa, specifically. Then there's the crossover art they had 🤔

One thing Onimusha Way of the Sword introduced was a fourth type of being. Dokyo is neither Genma or Oni. Upon her death she looked up at the sky and wondered why she was sent down and why they warped her body. She never reveals her face but her eye was briefly visible upon death.
I beat the game 🥲 There were onions all over my room. 20 long years and it was worth it. Also the Panda costume!! 😭 There were so many callbacks that only diehard fans such as myself would catch, and I loved every minute of it. One question was unanswered, what exactly was Dokyo? 👀

Man, Onimusha's choreography is unmatched. Sidenote, it's kinda funny how the Oni are redheads to differentiate from the Japanese population.
Was explaining Onimusha to my gf and realized just how easy it is to describe it. Samurai game that kills demons and absorbs their souls. I warned her that I could talk her ear off over it but she didn't seem to mind 😏
