I reject this whole thing on the original premise. Airlines are assholes. But planes are faster, easier on your body, and more reliable. They have a longer range, Wi-Fi, and airlines serve thousands more destinations than they used to. It’s better. Your memory just sucks.

Food, man. Food is so much better than it was in 1986. All of it. Poor-people food, restaurant food, fresh food, frozen food. Food is just a hell of a lot better.

air travel is one of those experiences that has gotten monotonically worse over my entire lifetime

question though: has *anything* in the last 40+ years genuinely gotten *better*?

like, there's *more* stuff, sure, but is any of it *better*?

When I say that the NFL is in deep, deep trouble, this is why. Unless something changes pretty radically about the game, player safety, and affordability, the player pool will be so diminished that they won't be able to fill rosters. It's pretty simple math.

Lockland HS outside of Cincinnati canceled their football season because they didn’t have enough kids who wanted to play and commenters are being extremely normal about it on Facebook

History is full of examples of this: An oppressed group plays the "game" and makes significant societal gains. The white male establishment sees this as a threat to their power. Rather than adapting, the white male establishment uses their power to re-oppress the group.

You can see the very obvious throughline from “men could transition and easily dominate women’s sports” to “women’s sports are lesser and shouldn’t be taken seriously” to “women shouldn’t play sports” to “here are the acceptable life choices for women”

🇧🇷 Sources: Sporting KC reach verbal agreement in talks to sign winger Andre Luiz from Olympiacos. Sport24 1st. Fee $18m + add-ons, per sources. Deal not done, still details to sort but SKC proceeding. Reporting w/ @paultenorio.bsky.social www.nytimes.com/athletic/748...

Sporting Kansas City has verbal agreement for $18M Andre Luiz transfer: Sources (Gift Article)

The Brazilian winger would be the biggest addition as part of Sporting KC's major roster makeover

FIFA has a funny set-up where every country gets exactly one vote which means small countries are way overrepresented and you can hang on to power by promising little giveaways to those countries and their reps. Thankfully no similar system exists in the United States government, that would be bad

Political scientists simulate war scenarios CONSTANTLY using incredibly powerful statistical models. They all say the same thing about what Trump and Hegseth did. But this administration has no one who can or will tell Trump the truth because he fired them all.

Let me tell you, having chronicled Pentagon-style war game on attacking Iran nearly 25 yr ago, every single "surprise," "darkening turn," "narrowing option," spreading warfare," "rising casualties," "no easy exit," etc that comes drip-by-drip is EXACTLY why GHWB WJC GWB OBAMA BiDEN did NOT do this

From page full of headlines about things going to hell in Iran.

I want @soundersfc.com to make some signings and compete, too. But I'm blocking a lot of you for your doom-and-gloom bullshit. This club has won everything. They have given you nothing but success since the start. Critical and cynical are different things.
