A historic day for the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons: on the 9th anniversary of its adoption, Tonga acceded, making it a total of 100 states that signed or ratified the #TPNW. A clear global majority for sustainable international security, not one based on catastrophic consequences.
Only 5 years on, more than half of all states have signed the #TPNW & we‘re working towards its 1st Review Conference. What a journey for a Treaty considered impossible. With its spotlight on security concerns of the non-nuclear majority, it has given agency to survivors, science - and all of us.
