An Abstract Kind of Hab

@hablmet.bsky.social

guy in his 20s / mojito appreciator / gf lover / toast professor / kofola ambassador / discord @hablmet. mod on the madoka discord. trails aficionado. inventor of the seth rogen curry. Currently playing: MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries, BATTLETECH

Managed to strain the entirety of my lower back, might recover to a good enough state tomorrow. Currently playing KCD I and MW5 alongside BATTLETECH - overall a pretty great experience, but KCD is crazy jank in terms of combat.

Yet Another Gah Dang Mech adds so many missing mechs from the previous games that my total database jumped from about 640 to over 2000. It's still quite jank, most of the mechs arrive with fully upgraded weapons and some parts need texturing, but it's on a very good path to being complete. Fun.

Also why the hell do I keep getting recommended porn accounts. I've got well over 100 tags in the filter at this point and they keep appearing, like I might just have to just go all-in on content filtering at this point

Gotta get back to MW5 as Chaos Reign is out, but due to how many mods got updated and the small tweaks I made to my modlist, I had to start over. Currently in 3019 with my first heavy mech (Orion) and I gotta say, the Orion does not fit what I need it to do, but it does the job fine so far.

am I the only one who doesn't want Rean in an enormous print size? I get usually posters are relatively large but I'm used to A4 and this is like, just over the limit for me where I have to look for bigger frames also eighty bucks, it's a nice print, but that and shipping and customs...maybe later.

So...I have actually written down that entire thing on Medium. medium.com/@hablmet/my-... In case you wanna have a long read and try to understand my insane thought process. Took me about four hours to commit everything from memory, so I'd appreciate it if you gave it a read. Hopefully enjoyable.

My Very Much Flawed Look at All the Trails Games and Ranking Them

I’m sure that I will think of a better title while I am writing this down, definitely. Trails, for those who do not know, is actually a…

So...Horizon finished at 69 hours. Yes, at hard through the entire run. I think I'm gonna get a lot of people upset, but this is my lowest ranked Trails game on my list now. Congratulations to Falcom for making me not interested in a story at all

Starting to sour pretty fast on Horizon as it is my third time I got softlocked in a battle. I gotta give congrats to Falcom - using the speedup that's been in the games since forever breaks the game if someone uses an order And yes, it was in the middle of a long boss fight

so, Horizon...uhhh still need more time with it. It's shaping to be better than Daybreak II and a considerable bit better than Reverie. Rean is still absolutely fucking busted though idk how they do it. Congrats Falcom I broke the game's back on Hard within 20 minutes of getting him

So Kai boots up flawlessly thru Lutris, just needed to set the runner to Proton-GE and it runs without a hitch. Running it almost completely maxed, haven't seen a frame drop yet. Very good optimization in this regard. On the other hand I'm kinda questioning this, but sure, a codex is good.

So far been hearing decent opinions on Beyond the Horizon, so here's hoping it'll be a bit better than Daybreak II. That game had its problems in writing and we kinda know how Falcom performs when there's a lot of characters. I'll reserve judgment for later.

Downloading Trails Beyond the Horizon, using the GOG version since I know the GOG installers are the easiest to work with on Linux. We'll see if I make any progress in...about two and half hours, maybe three. Since I've played a ton of Trails, I'll try playing on Hard at first.

So, horror image, but I repaired my phone today. The part on the left is a 3.5mm jack, on the right is the Type-C connector. Both utterly ratted out. This phone is turning 6 this year, so yeah. The @ifixit.com iOpener kit was thankfully a godsend, managed to get it all done under an hour.

So far I'm quite enjoying Nobara though Linux seems to have this one small quirk with Starsector, where I cannot map any keys from the number row to a keybind, yet the default set keys from the number row from 5 onwards work just fine. It's the only game doing this 🤔

so uh, I have done stuff my Linux escapades are worth like twenty posts, but the reason I've been away is because I assembled my own proper desktop for the first time ever (and got a B580 for a nice price), but I'm also running Nobara now.

Well, I'm going to work for the first time in years tomorrow...it's an actual work contract too. Estimate is that I'll probably be there till February, so even if it's just a couple months, I think it's a decent chunk of change.
