I learn something new on Instagram every day. No, not politics or pseudoscience. Apparently, the proto-Algonquin word for skunk was a combination of the words for piss and fox. They smelled a skunk and called it a piss fox. 1/2
Idea: instead of Disney recreating its animated films as live-action, make new live-action suspense/horror films or shorts true to the original Grimm, Hans Christian Anderson, etc. tales. Disney After Dark 👻
Finally caught up with the Strange New Worlds horror episode during lunch. It was well done with real insights into, and ongoing effects for, the crew and Kirk. I liked that they didn’t tie up the mystery into a neat bow. Maybe an X-Files-like Star Trek spinoff too?
Ben Franklin always gets to slide for the whole electricity leads to data centers thing. Must be because of that beer quote. His PR team was historic.

I’m not surprised, but was this specific outcome even reported? So much garbage floats by these days it’s difficult to spot it all. www.eeoc.gov/newsroom/eeo...

High above Rue Sainte Catherine, the majestic… ACAB tag. Should’t it be TFSB in French, like how their KFCs are PFKs, Poulet Frit Kentucky?
I love thunderstorms, except driving through them for 5 hours straight…

I guess it’s chic for a high-end restaurant not to put its menu or a description on its website. However, I am not looking for chic; I’m looking to eat. 😄
Ooh, this one needs to be used again in a podcasting context.

When will a chicken drumstick finally replace the buffalo on the Bills’ alternate helmet?
First day in Big Boy prison, you’ve got to cough on someone’s salad bar or be someone’s appetizer.
That shadowy place way out there? That is beyond our borders. You must never go there. That is the Big Boy graveyard.

As someone into history and genealogy, I was excited to find out a pic taken of my great grandparents on their honeymoon was from a studio only a 10 minute walk down the same street as our hotel for our upcoming trip.
The song and album that taught me you can be weird and still kick ass. 😄 Buck Dharma’s solo is jaw dropping, especially as this was only 1974, plus drummer Al Bouchard’s feral vocals and manager Sandy Pearlman’s (RIP) insane lyrics involving strange siblings, (too much) revolution & New Year’s Eve.
Such a cool neighborhood bar. North Winton Village is a great area of Rochester, as I’ve been promoting on all the socials since forever (except X the last few years, because you know why).
Congratulations to Jack's Extra Fancy! I walk there all the time. I don't get the Malort thing, though. 😂
The conclusion of a century-long quest 😲 Our VLT obtained firm evidence that Betelgeuse, a red supergiant star in the Orion constellation and one of the most famous stars in the night sky, is not alone! 🔭 🧪 1/4

I couldn’t find the cornerstone; it may have been behind a bush. General Dynamics bought Stromberg-Carlson in 1956 though. So, I’d bet the yellow building was built around 1957. The factory was built in the late 1920s. They moved from University Ave. Here’s what the former S-C looks like today.
My daughter bought this puzzle of Stromberg Carlson in Rochester, NY, which made phones, radios, TVs, (and radar during WWII) celebrating the opening of their yellow admin building in the ‘50s(?), I’ll have to walk by and check the cornerstone. You can also see WROC channel 8 in the background.

So, I’ve got enough restaurants and things to see for a two-week trip when it’s only going to be a couple of days. I like to plan, but have a lot of flexibility. I don’t like being trapped into an itinerary, or to be completely adrift in an unfamiliar place.
Taking this stormy day to research restaurants before a first-ever trip to Montreal. Très délicieux. I only wish any of us actually knew French. Hopefully, they’ll respect the effort, if not the results, have pity and switch to English.
Just watched Masters of the Universe and it was goofy fun. Not as bad as I’d heard. I used to watch the cartoon after school and I had some of the figures, like Trap Jaw, Mekaneck, and battle-damage He-Man. I remember having massive battles combining them, my Transformers, and GI Joes.
