Two Germans appeared in my bedroom last night. A couple. They looked like Walter and Connie. They entered through a cupboard and were looking for a way out. I tried to explain to them to walk on to the landing and down the stairs, but I couldn’t speak German and they couldn’t understand English.

There was only one dissenter in the village of St Hilary, Glamorgan in the 1740s and, of course, she was one of my ancestors - Priscilla Howe, who ran a Quaker meeting house. The name Priscilla was very common in the Howe family, featuring in countless generations from the late 1600s to the 1950s.
