been trying to figure out backloggd rating curves by coming up with "finger theory" as to why fingers appear in some games but not others. theory: when a game has story/lore focus people tend to rate in round numbers, but the more the game focuses on 'gameplay' the more you see X.5 ratings. (maybe)

dream bumpslash game.. - quest64y world with combat encounters in between towns. 3rd-person walking + camera shifting to top-down for fights - harder enemies/no double jump, rethought subweapons/guns - ancient e. asia setting..wuxia..buddhism - system that forces u to practice getting between towns
early angeline era overworld test from 2023. the bits at the end really make me want to play something with a blocky overworld that's harder to navigate and more in-between a map and a level

an art direction i've always wanted to do something with - earthy-toned tilework-focused architecture around tokyo/japan from i think the 60s-80s. the tilework always feels warm/welcoming, see it a lot in libraries/local public buildings

Downloaded Angeline era to my PS4 for Testing and it's wild how well the PS4 UI still works (haven't touched it in 2 or 3 years) Why did they need to make a ps5?? Also I have dark souls on this thing for some reason nice. Compare to my PS3 whose UI feels like it got dropped in molasses
We loved hearing the inspiration behind Danchi Days from the team at Gingham Games. 💜 It’s always fascinating to see how everyday moments can grow into memorable game mechanics. Have you ever played a game inspired by real life? #patchmag #patchmagazine #gaming #gamedev #indiegames
The past months I have been on and off playing a really exciting game called "Self publishing on console backends" which may be fun for fans of the "dungeon crawlers from hell" genre. I can't review this one on backloggd unfortunately
Book of Bumpslash is back! This time talking about boss design principles in Marina and I's action game Angeline Era (@angelineera.bsky.social) , and me discussing and ranking the first 5 bosses. What does it mean when a boss has high "HEAT"? Do I like tennis?Find out buttondown.com/melodicambie...
last time i was into souls trilogy was early 20s. but i was into them from a weird playstyle where i would methodically kill all the enemies in a zone and walk around taking photos. curious about doing a 'lore run' with an invincibility mod, focused on just figuring out lore on my own
We asked beta testers about their favorite @danchidays.bsky.social characters and weather-loving Raymond has ranked surprisingly high lol.. you'll have to play for yourself to find out why come OCTOBER
one of my fav musical discoveries while composing Angeline Era's OST was early 20c. british light music. An interesting link between 19th c. classical and 20th c. film/TV (and JRPGs, e.g. dragon quest). The rosy idealism it had was a good fit for this song's setting www.youtube.com/watch?v=UsfL...

In every major city they should let pedestrians defame or fame a car once per day like in maple story. Noisy sports car? Defame. Cool 80s Honda stick shift? Fame

random thought: i dont think angeline era bumpslash is similar to ys 1/2 bump combat. i get the marketing term is confusing... but i thought it would be clear that they're not that similar... like in Ys 1/2 you get hurt if you walk straight into an enemy, the bumping in Ys is like skimming the side.

I started learning classical guitar last year and semi-learned a few simple pieces I wonder if it's just a really hard instrument..I think maybe because it kinda feels like four handed. You have to fret (left hand) and pluck, but accompaniment and melody at the same time. The Mecha of instruments
I haven’t introduced our other main Danchi Days character yet… This is Rio Isshiki! Hoshino’s childhood friend and danchi resident. Rio was sweet and kind but ever since Hoshino moved back to the danchi, he became distant and harsh towards her & her grandmother… @danchidays.bsky.social
We just hit our first milestone for beta testing @danchidays.bsky.social !! Excited for everyone to play and experience the story come this October. It's shaping up to be a fun adventure!
