His [Robert Frost] double vision of metaphor alone—calling it the foundation of all understanding and at the same time counting on it to fail (“Every metaphor breaks down”)—gives a nicely mystical crack to his poetical systems. -- Kay Ryan, Synthesizing Gravity: Selected Prose

Hi y’all—we haven’t used Substack for a minute, and we need to say no to invitations to participate in posts (interviews, features, etc). Leaving this here so folks know why! 📚💙 We love small presses and their authors!

Screenshot from email:

We actually left Substack as a press because of the platform's continued support of white supremacist and anti-Semitic content. (We now use Beehiv, which offered an easy migration of our posts.) So l think we need to say no, as we continue to divest as best we can from platforms whose values don't align with ours. I recognize this is tricky and laborious work!

“Are you a communist?” “No I am an anti-fascist” “For a long time?” “Since I have understood fascism.” – Ernest Hemingway, For Whom the Bell Tolls
