We are very happy to announce we have added another keynote speaker to our conference! Dr Lucy Durneen will be presenting her paper 'Constellations of Old Light: A Brief History of (our) Fragmented Selves'.

We are pleased to announce that Professor Francesco Goglia will be joining us as a keynote speaker. He is a Professor in Migration and Multilingualism at the University of Exeter.
We are happy to announce our second keynote speaker, Dr Freya Gowrley. She is a Senior Lecturer in History of Art and Liberal Arts at the University of Bristol, where she specialises in art and objects from the early modern period to the late nineteenth century.
We are delighted to announce that Professor Jason Peacey will be joining us as a keynote speaker. He is a Professor of British history in the early modern period at University College London (UCL).

HAPI will finally meet the world at our inaugural conference at University of Bristol from 17–19 August 2026. The themes are Tension & Fragmentation. Come and speak about your research, in person or online. The deadline for submission of papers is 20 April.
We’ve introduced the people who work together to run HAPI… but it is intended to be so much more than that. The idea behind HAPI is to create a vibrant and inclusive forum for all people working in the Arts and Humanities.
Who is Hapi? Ben Vince is a second year English Literature PhD student at the University of Bristol researching queer ecology and it's relationship to what he terms 'ecological loneliness,' in works from 1920-present day.
Who is Hapi? Sian Macfarlane is an artist whose work spans material photographic practice, performance, installation and film. Her interests include early photography and industrial and post-industrial contexts.
Who is Hapi? Estefanía Tamayo-Pineda is a PhD researcher in Cognitive Linguistics. Her work explores the intersection of language, cognition, and culture, with a particular focus on semantics and second language acquisition.
Who is Hapi? Ivana Širinić is a PhD candidate of Russian studies at the University of Bristol, where she is supervised by Dr Connor Doak (Bristol) and Prof Muireann Maguire (Exeter).
Who is Hapi? Dylan is a doctoral researcher at the University of Bristol and the University of Exeter, exploring violence and masculine identity-building in seventeenth-century Britain.
Who is Hapi? HAPI was founded by Teoni Passereau. She is a second year, SWWDTP-funded PhD candidate researching the relationship between Charles II of England and Louis XIV of France.
