Birds, insects, fungi, wild flowers etc. Started getting into nature in 2021. Based in Milton Keynes.
6 Redstarts at Quainton Hills today and Garganey at Willen yesterday. Hopefully the finds continue. @bucksbirdclub81.bsky.social
Pearl-bordered Fritillary at the New Forest last weekend. My 48th species of Butterfly in the UK. @savebutterflies.bsky.social
I reached a milestone on iNaturalist recently. 2000 records. It's been a wonderful app to use, with all my non-birding records and pics easily accessible! And all goes directly to science! @inaturalist
Iraq in February. Family trip but managed to visit the Mesopotamian Marshes. Highlights were Iraq Babbler, Afghan Babbler, Great Spotted Eagle and Delicate Prinia. ebird.org/tripreport/4... #birds #iraq #nature
Arctic Tern yesterday at Caldecotte Lake, Milton Keynes and loads of Green-winged Orchid at Pilch Field on Monday.
Yesterday, I got a text from Harry Appleyard saying he had found an interesting fungi. Luckily, it was one of my few target fungi! So I went over in the evening to see it. 100+ fruiting bodies. Bog Beacon at Brickhills. #fungi
Dunlin at Logistica Flood this morning. It could be my worst record shot to date.
Why does this bird speak fluent Cat? 🧐 🔊 #BirdSky #Nature #AnimalFocus #CatSky
Spring is here. Yesterday I found the 4th UK LRP this year. And today, a Scandinavian Rock Pipit. Both at Logistica Flood. @bucksbirdclub81.bsky.social
Finding a few Psathyrella sp including Common Stump Brittlestem, my favourite recent find was Conifer Tuft, seeing many Galerina sp, everywhere I go there are Scurfy Twiglet and I've gone all in and got a microscope. #mushroommonday #fungi
Found a great new patch of woods this week. Warlock's Butter (?), Jelly Ear foraged and the largest single bit of Crystal Brain Fungus I've seen. #fungi
First time picking and eating Velvet Shank yesterday, delicious! Also, Oyster Mushroom and Scarlet Elfcup #fungi
300th and 301st UK bird! After the last few months keeping me inside more than usual, I wanted to kick-start 2026 with something exciting. I forced myself out to twitch some lifers yesterday. Red-necked Grebe in Beds and Tundra Bean Goose in Herts.
UK Wildlife 2025: 5 lifers and UK bird list 299 / best moments were finding Orca, being next to @hobhole.bsky.social finding Sibe Thrush, taking a day off to correctly predict Leach's movement and finding Nightjar and Pied Fly in Cornwall (1/3)
Fluted bird's nest fungus - a fungi i've never seen before. A genus i've been hoping to find and thought it might be too late in the season. Some of the "eggs" have been flung out due to all the rain we've had recently. Such a weird looking thing. #fungi
Beautiful adult Caspian Gull at Logistica Flood. Presumably male considering it's size.
Fungi around UK in last month. Row 1 left to right: Crimson Waxcap, Purple Jellydisc, Liberty Cap, Scarlet Waxcap Row 2: Bay Bolete, Parrot Waxcap, Wrinkled Peach, Magpie Inkcap Row 3: Snowy Waxcap, Dead Man's Fingers, Collared Earthstar, Butter Waxcap
Cley to Blakeney Point walk in Norfolk was wonderful for birds. Highlight was finding a Grey Phalarope feeding (phone vid frames) and 1w Caspian Gull (digiscoped through bins). Also, 15 Snow Buntings, Black-throated Diver, GND, Woodcock and a clear passage of Little Gulls and Kittiwakes

Being next to @hobhole.bsky.social when he found the Siberian Thrush was the best birding moment I've ever had. We dismissed the 1w Bluethroat in the same bush whilst trying to get our whole group on the bird. Only on Shetland! #Shetland #birding #siberianthrush
Top left then going clockwise: Porcelain, Puffball, Tripe Fungus, Slender Parasol(?), Yellow Stagshorna and Common Coral Slime. Brickhill Woods. #mushrooms
Tree Pipit at Steps Hill today. Was hoping for a flyover bird among the large Meadow Pipit movement. Love when a plan comes together and as a bonus, it was my first grounded one in Bucks!
Leach's Storm Petrel, my most wanted bird in the UK! Got to see a few today through the Wirral. Saw the wind forces last last week and took the day off work. An extremely friendly and helpful bunch of birders in that area!
Found a Pied Flycatcher this afternoon at Porthgwarra, Cornwall. One I was hoping to bump into on my few days here. @cbwps.org.uk
Found a Garganey this afternoon. Willen Lake keeps delivering!
Found a Wood Sandpiper this morning at Willen Lake, Milton Keynes
