Am I crazy for wanting to buy an FX30 as a b-cam in 2025? The 26MP sensor would be really nice to have for when clients ask for photos, and I just always feel a little nervous not having a backup in case my FX3 suddenly stops working

We are devastated and outraged about today's layoffs, the sale of Polygon, and the loss of staff across Polygon and NY Mag. We stand with our colleagues at @polygon.com com and @nymagunion.bsky.social in solidarity.
Wildly disappointing and sad news. The world of niche journalism keeps shrinking as glorified equity firms like Valnet and Future continually buy every property, gut the staff, and drive away the core audiences with SEO farming, rampant ads, AI drivel, and the like
Really wish I had more music and fashion friends on Bluesky. Love my tech friends but I just… rarely ever want to talk about work on social media anymore
NEW: It's official, hundreds of workers at the @wapotechguild.bsky.social are ready to win their union! Sign this petition and let management know that these workers DESERVE voluntary recognition. 🔗 bit.ly/WAPOTECH
it’s been rainy and cold and windy in nyc almost every fucking day for weeks and i’m losing my mind
It brings me no joy to confirm that it's true what they say, taking time away from (text-based) social media truly does wonders for your mental health! That said, I'm gonna start using this again bc I'm a bored masochist and miss microblogging
free idea for future ios/android versions: a system-level tool that detects when you’re in public and disables your phone’s speakers
Hitting six cities in five countries across three continents in 30 days starting tomorrow 💀 About to be my most chaotic and exhausting but fun month yet
Come for the cold open about how much I hate the Las Vegas Strip; stay for the eyes-on time with a bunch of face computers! youtu.be/s8sYp-AcwKk #CES2025
The Fight For Your Face: Smart Glasses (and More!) at CES 2025

If this were just a CES video, it would be unpardonably late. Fortunately, the tech at CES that mattered most (in mobile) was smart glasses – and that's a conversation we'll be having all year long! Join me for a Friday-night premiere to talk about the fight for your face: youtu.be/s8sYp-AcwKk
Shared audio with AirPods is easily one of my favorite tricks when traveling together
Truly baffling that twelve years after its launch, Google Drive is still such an incredibly user-hostile experience
sending video files in google drive is an act of malevolence
Nintendo/Sony/Microsoft pls I don’t care about better graphics or higher frame rates or HDR gaming I just want hall effect joysticks so my $70+ controllers can stop drifting
Even when it doesn’t pay off, I’ve always loved that Nintendo takes big risks with each new console and tries some totally new approach to gaming. The Switch 2 looks nice but it also kinda just looks like… a bigger, modernized Switch?
Here’s the Nintendo Switch 2
I’ve known Joe since we started working together at Android Central six years ago. He’s a damn hard worker and a great writer — hire this man if you have the capacity to.
Today, I was laid off from my role as Mobile Section Editor at Digital Trends — as were most of my other full-time editorial colleagues. After almost 3 years with the company, I was told that today I no longer have a job.
NYC freelancers, what are you doing for healthcare? I've been looking at a ton of options but it's uhhh overwhelming
The new UK/EU travel authorizations are mostly just a minor inconvenience, but I’m a little annoyed that both systems are tied to your passport number, seeing as mine expires later this year 🙃 Gonna need to apply (and pay) for an ETA twice
Very happy with where freelance video has taken me in the last year, but lately I've been sorta missing writing and podcasting. I don't want to go back to doing either full-time, but... 🤔
From CES last week. The cursed pano photo has been a favorite party trick of mine for a while, but this was my first attempt at two subjects in one shot. The result was... uh. @joemaring1.bsky.social @alexdobie.bsky.social @captain2phones.bsky.social
I complained a lot about being in Vegas (and I will every time I go, absolute worst city), but this was a wildly chill CES for me compared to the last 9 or so Got 7+ hours of sleep every night, ate good (and fairly healthy) food, went to the gym, didn’t drink too much… Pretty solid tbh
By far and away my favorite thing about living in NYC is how often I unexpectedly see friends from out of town who inevitably end up here for work/vacation/events
HNY here’s some of my favorite fit pics we’ve taken together this winter
