Lillian Bilocca passed 38 years ago today. Leading the trawler safety campaign, Lil’s passion and determination was boundless, she refused to let any more die at sea and the lives saved are beyond measure. Lil challenged the fishing industry and changed it forever. #HeadscarfRevolutionaries
They stood shoulder to shoulder and refused to give up when the industry tried to silence them. The #HeadscarfRevolutionaries - four women who fought together and changed the world. They proved that strength isn’t about being unbreakable, but about holding on to what’s right and never backing down.

In the wake of the triple trawler disaster, the #HeadscarfRevolutionaries demanded change. A mothership in Icelandic waters to keep in contact the fleet, give weather reports and vital medical support. The Orsino sailed from Hull on 29 November 1968 carrying the hopes of the fishing community

A beautiful service today remembering the lost trawlermen from Hull at the fantastic memorial on St Andrews Quay. Thank you so much to chair Ruth Creasey and the team from STAND, Revd Richard Coutts, (Vicar of St John the Baptist) and the City of Hull band for such a very memorable event.
Did you know that in the 1980s the great Mary Denness answered an advert in the society magazine ‘The Lady’ and became a public school matron. She worked for many top schools and retired from Eton College at 65 where Princes William and Harry were among her charges. #HeadscarfRevolutionaries

A pleasure to bring the story of the #TripleTrawlerDisaster and #HeadscarfRevolutionaries to the kids at Bacon Garth Primary School today. They listened to me talk for an hour and then had some great questions. A fantastic afternoon.
The sculpture ‘LIL’ is a tribute to the #HeadscarfRevolutionaries in recognition of their incredible achievements in 1968. This fantastic sculpture was made by Gail Hurst and is on display at the Hull Fishing Heritage Centre.
