A few variations on the Photos app icon within Icon Composer changing nothing about the layers themselves other than material properties It is remarkable how the tool feels bespoke for this icon 😄 If you're a practicing designer, recreate the things you see & experiment tweaking them in new ways

My theory is that Liquid Glass & Icon Composer started as a design tool solely for the Photos app icon, and people liked messing with it so much they were like screw the consequences let's just built the entire OS design language on top of this

I built Bayer Cam because I'm interested in using my phone camera as a photographic tool, that I can control & understand I get that all this AI stuff that hallucinates the perfect picture of your dreams without any knowledge/effort required is exciting for many, but it's not inspiring at all to me

In French, we say "plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose"

iOS 27 delivers on the Apple Intelligence promises of 2024 and the Liquid Glass promises of 2025 iOS might be on a 1-year marketing cycle, but empirically it takes 3 years to deliver a polished OS

Since the very first iOS 26 beta, lockscreen icons appear smaller when you leave the Edit mode. It drives me nuts. I thought I was exporting my symbols wrong, but it happens to all 3rd party camera app I try. Also not an issue in iOS 18. Of course, Apple's Camera app is fine

I've been experimenting with photography tooling around HDR recently, and am still very ambivalent about it Undeniably it can make for really gorgeous results (especially with black & white photos)...

Bayer Cam lets you set lower/upper limits for auto shutter speed/ISO So you can limit ISO to your maximum tolerance for noisiness, or shutter speed to something that fits your steadiness for nightshooting Not every camera has this, I wish it were more common...

It’s a little detail, but the preview widget in the Liquid Glass setting should be “real” and respond to touch - missed opportunity there
