When worldbuilding, democracy falls when people convince themselves/are tricked into believeing democracy and institutions are useless because they're failing to defend "the nation/our values", and thus authoritarianism becomes the "only way to save us".
My least favourite part of tiktok is people giving no context to what theyre talking about It's always "the Jello situation" or "everyone knlws what's happening on booktok right now"
