As someone not living in New York, I'm pretty confused as to why everyone is acting like Mamdani did something weird or surprising. He endorsed people who had his back when he was competing with Cuomo in the primary. Voters in New York like those people, and like Mamdani, and voted as such.

I know significantly smarter people than myself have all had their say on the Gen AI stuff, but I do find it kind of wild that the main thing these bots are best at is sycophancy, and I can't help but wonder if the love from CEO's is mostly about an inability to say "no, that's not a thing."

One thing I find fascinating about the supposed "need" to use AI in media production, is that amateur-made stuff of middling quality sells all over the place? Like, I'm not saying everyone will be a stellar artist, but outsourcing your vision to a robot who's just plagiarizing something similiar?
