Last week, more than 1,200 students from 24 schools across the UK and Ireland came together for an online session to hear Steven Frank BEM’s powerful testimony and learn more about the lived experience of being forced into ghettos in Nazi-occupied Europe.
On this day in 1941, Operation Barbarossa began. This invasion of the Soviet Union by the Nazis would lead to the creation of the Bielski partisan group, led by the Bielski brothers. By the end of the war, the group had saved over 1,200 Jews.
