Admittedly a US thing, but I think folks should reflect that Kimi, the open-weight AI model by $20b-valued Moonshot AI everyone is freaking out about, was developed by someone who went to CMU and then didn't stay in the US mostly because visas would prevent him setting up a US business

A big part of the reason that I haven't been posting much is that I have been spending a lot of my personal time working to get @abdulelsayed.bsky.social elected in Michigan. I can tell you, the excitement I see from everyday people for his campaign is something I've never seen before.

Being forced to listen to these freaks screech about how trans people are perverts while they get arrested on a weekly basis for sex crimes is a reality I am sincerely so tired of being subjected to.

There's an absolutely mind boggling amount of scandals involving US government officials right now, and the only thing plastered across CNN's front page for days has been a TV host's missing mother. I'm sorry, I just do not care about this whatsoever. This is the state of newsmedia in the US.

On his update call last night, @abdulelsayed.bsky.social said something that hit me square in the chest. He said, "My job is not to make what is popular right. My job is to make what is right popular." That's what an actual leader does.

NYT is wrong. Bezos buying WaPo was never a for-profit venture. Buying news outlets and allowing/forcing them to fail is not an accident, it's a militant strategy by the ultra-wealthy to deny their opposition (all of us) reliable information in an ongoing class war. The price is worth it for them.

Democrats want commonsense reform for ICE: End the roving patrols and racial profiling. Take accountability and abide by the same rules as local police. Masks need to come off, body cameras need to stay on—no secret police in the United States of America.

You might ask me, “ok, so what do Democrats do now to make sure high turnout voters don’t become low turnout voters?” I didn’t decide not to go to bat for Dems next time on a lark. It took years of compounded messaging and blame for me to get here. It’s not an easy, overnight fix.

Immediately after the Democrats lost in 2024, the DNC didn’t listen to their voters…they blamed trans people and leftist organizers, then held a retreat where their paid consultants rubbed their backs and told them to stay the course. This pull quote is a lie Dems tell themselves now to feel better.

Dem leadership openly throws their base voters in the path on an oncoming train, and has the nerve to wonder why we quit bothering to show up. Whats the matter, DNC? Did all those Cheney voters not come out for you? Fuck off.

They finally made an action adventure about my teenage years.

The credibility of DHS is damaged beyond the point of repair. It can't be fixed now or ever.
