I like movie watching and bird watching 🎥 🦉 I spend my days writing code at Slack and my evenings making the pinball tournament app Match Play Events: @matchplay.events 📍 San Francisco, CA (via Denmark) 📸 Canon R6 Mark II, RF 100-500
Dinner time for this western tanager in Golden Gate Park. It's great to have these back in the area! 🪶 #BirdOfTheDay
This was a great talk! All I want for Christmas is a US release of Comrades, Almost a Love Story. Please help @filmsradiance.bsky.social my family is starving 🥺 🙏
You can now watch the talk I gave at QAGOMA's In the Mood for Maggie Cheung retrospective last year online. As usual, I decided to fly close to the sun, running through her entire career while also framing it against the story of Hong Kong cinema itself. youtu.be/eUIfPITIXio
Spent yesterday in the company of red-necked phalaropes zipping around. There are worse activities for a Saturday afternoon 🪶 #BirdOfTheDay
Best of August: A barn swallow getting fed and a black turnstone prancing along looking for mole crabs 🪶 #BirdOfTheDay
This summer has been rich in Ospreys for me. Here one of the parents are bringing back lunch for the fledged young 🪶 #BirdOfTheDay 📍 Coyote Point, San Mateo, CA
The best way to recover from a broken leg is with a big cup of milk. ACROSS THE BRIDGE (1957) #milknoir
Guess it's time to get back to my life's work documenting #milknoir Now that I've nuked the twitter evidence I'm starting over here.Gonna take me a bit to catch up, but please send me screenshot evidence of adults drinking or intending to drink milk in thriller flicks letterboxd.com/jedidiahayre...
This year's great horned owlets are all grown up. This is them goofing around yesterday 🪶 #BirdOfTheDay
Not a warbler, but a warbling vireo a couple of weeks back in The Presidio of San Francisco 🪶 #BirdOfTheDay
the contract expires, dump the goods ceramics clearance like a heist movie script!
One of my first bird photos (with a fresh edit this morning 😅). This marsh wren is from 2023 when I rented an Olympus OM-1 camera to try things out (I eventually ended up buying a much heavier setup 😂). Looking at it now I realize it's not really in focus 🙈 #BirdOfTheDay 🪶
The male black-headed grosbeak flew off immediately, but the female is beautiful in her own right 🪶 #BirdOfTheDay
I'd been on the lookout for a Wilson's warbler at eye height for weeks when this one popped out right in front of me for maybe five seconds at Dragonfly Creek in the Presidio #BirdOfTheDay 🪶
My latest lifers with photos: Lewis' woodpecker and the solitary sandpiper (San Francisco and Half Moon Bay respectively) 🪶 #BirdOfTheDay
Nothing better than stumbling on a #MilkNoir by accident. Stephen McNally has a bank to rob, but first he must enjoy a delicious glass of buttermilk. VIOLENT SATURDAY (1955) turned out to be a real banger! 🥛 ❤️

The San Francisco garter snake is endemic to the San Francisco peninsula and has been listed on the federal endangered species list since 1967. I was lucky to see both a young snake and an adult snake at Año Nuevo State Park this weekend. 🐍
A pigeon guillemot prepares for landing while bringing a meal back to its nest. Likely a type of gunnel caught while diving. 🪶 #BirdOfTheDay
A young osprey was testing its wings this weekend, trying to keep its balance in the air. It would jump up, hover briefly in the wind before touching down again (China Camp State Park, CA) 🪶 #BirdOfTheDay
This year I've gotten a lot better at telling the little brown birds apart. Two from this spring: Lincoln's sparrow in Joshua Tree National Park and a White-throated sparrow at Fort Mason in San Francisco 🪶 #BirdOFTheDay
Thinking about the beauty of the lark sparrow this morning (Big Morongo Canyon Preserve) 🪶
