One way I'm trying to stay sane in all this madness is small, daily dopamine boosts. In the last 3 weeks it's been making friends with folks at the maker space in the campus building nextdoor and printing small tools for the lab from thingyverse that are normally obscenely expensive.

I posted this elsewhere, but not yet here, so for completeness' sake: My childhood home has burned down in the Eaton fire. As have my elementary school and many other places of my childhood. My parents are safe but got out with just two bags of necessities. Feeling lots of things right now.

Happy science moment: I often feel jaded about my future role in academia. But today I looked at a list of ECR's in a field I'm growing into, and was filled excitement and joy at the prospect of getting to work more closely with such awesome and friendly people. Thanks folks, you make it worth it.
