Hillbilly Highlander

I'm a hillbilly from Kentucky with a home in the Scottish Highlands. Retired Navy Band. Happily married father of two adult kids. VERY liberal. Avid hillwalker and photographer.
Today's post workout brunch: a sunny side up egg, buttered toast, two rashers of back bacon, sliced mushrooms sauteed in butter and lemon (I LOVE that stuff!!) and a sliced tomato.
BEAST MODE ENGAGED. Todays Wednesday workout is in the books. I know, my hair's a fright. I'm waiting to have my wife use her clippers on me outside so I don't have to sweep up, and it's been pishin' doon the rain. Work smarter, not harder!
"Hi, do you have any porn?" "Sir! Really! This is a library!" "Oh, sorry" [whispers] "do you have any porn?"
I'm doing an experiment. I finished off a jar of Sarsons Pickled Onions and was loath to discard all the wonderful flavour of that pickle juice, so I hard boiled an egg and plopped it in there. Should be ready for me to have an ersatz ploughmans breakfast a week from today.
I found a hack that makes peeling garlic simple as homemade sin. Take a knife and cut the little, fuzzy root end off. Microwave for 15 seconds. Take out the garlic and pinch the pointy end, but be ready to catch it with your other hand, because it just jumps right out of the skin!!
The weather here is SO micro. In the first two photos, it's dry on my way to take pix of the road works. In the second two photos, I'm walking back from the road works to the house in the rain. Compare how much has visibly changed between sets of photos in so short a time.
The road works are about a half mile from our house. The road will be closed from 7AM-4PM all week. I'll be SO glad when this hostage situation is finally over. A murrain upon all these blackguards and their feckless masters!!
Todays brunch: buttery buttermilk biscuits and sausage gravy. The gravy had a bit of a "Scottish accent," because I used a couple uncased bangers and Lorne sausage to make it.
Last nights supper: salmon and couscous with vegetables.
I'm so proud of our lads of the Glengarry Shinty Club for winning the Chieftains Cup!

This is what I get up to on twitter... flinging iambs at hapless people.
Today's post workout brunch: a sunny side up egg with buttered toast, Lorne sausage and a salad consisting of sliced cherry tomatoes and jalapenos, chopped shallots, grated carrots and extra sharp cheddar with ranch dressing. Washed down with a glass of summer fruit and barley water squash.
BEAST MODE ENGAGED. Todays Monday workout is in the books. I increased the weight of the dips I was doing by increasing the amount of time spent in the "down" position to 10 seconds. I doubled the reps of the overhead tricep extensions I do. Progress, while slow, is being made.
Last nights supper: steak and black pudding pies from Ben Nevis Bakery with chips. The wee heart on top of the pie was a nice touch!
I shot this 180° panorama across Loch Garry. Those are the Corbetts Ben Tee (Gaelic for "Fairy Mountain") and Meall a-Choire Ghlaiss, (Gaelic for "Hill Of The Grey Coire") in the distance.
🧵This thread is from a drive I took through our glen, today. You are most welcome to come with, if you'd like. It's a gorgeous day, 68°F, 20°C, so we'll ride with the windows down!
