What's next, giving characters the right to vote? They could sue their authors if they don't like the story written about them? Divorce them? Since we like to treat fictional characters as if they were real and expect them to give or deny consent...

The only "ethics" involving books is content warning. Anything else, it doesn't apply because, guess what, it's FICTIONAL. Those characters DO NOT EXIST. They consent or not consent solely on the author's whims. Read content warnings and pick stories you will enjoy w/o shitting on the rest

Now mulling over @bleaksqueak.bsky.social post more and thinking of how much the internet has changed how young artists view their own work in progress. I am a grandpa and was trained doing trad art. Medical illustration for text books was still a major at our art school ๐Ÿซ  (please kill me)

There's no reprieve from amazing art online, if you're not careful, all you will start to see is art that is better than yours. The goal post for what will make you happy regarding your art will never stop moving in a way that's not constructive.
