ao3 has protection against basic data scraping which is used to train AI, taking works offsite exposes them to that risk also, a lot of these fics may have been only accessible for registered users on ao3 and sharing it is going against the author's express wish that the work only be read on ao3

But don’t reupload work that isn’t yours publicly. Even with the best intentions, it’s not yours to do whatever with. #ao3

On the AO3 outage: I say this is a time to notice how much you benefit from a space that you assume will always be there. Places like that are not a given, nothing in this world is, and you should ask yourself how you can give back to the places you love to be to help keep them alive into the future

Patrick Stewart story: Night before my GCSE Chemistry, I waited for Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart backstage after Waiting For Godot. Patrick asked what’s in my bag, I told him about my exam. So Stewart and McKellen told the Green Room to “shush” as they both tested me on the Periodic Table. RIP
