It’s important to underline that the DCNG was saying as recently as THURSDAY that available weapons remained in the armory. By the weekend, WSJ and NPR reported plans to arm members. Now The Handbasket confirms the type of weapons they’ll carry.

SCOOP — Members of DC National Guard are preparing to carry M17 pistols, multiple sources confirm to me. This follows earlier reports that the guard reversed course and would soon be arming members in DC. Now we know they’re making sure they meet requirements if/when the order to arm them comes.

UPDATE — DHS spokesperson confirms delivery worker Cristian Enrique Carias Torres was brutalized by six ICE agents in DC on Saturday for being undocumented and having traffic violations. The administration says they’re “proud” of their agents. The full despicable statement provided to me here:

As you see in the video, his fellow officer was on the ground with a bloody head and concussion due to violent resistance from the illegal alien they were apprehending. “Cristian Enrique Carias Torres is an illegal alien from Venezuela who illegally entered the United States under the Biden Administration in 2023. He has a final order of removal from an immigration judge, issued that same year. Additionally, he has repeatedly failed to appear for multiple court dates in Maryland related to a long list of traffic crimes, for which he currently has active warrants. This illegal alien has shown time and time again total disregard for the rule of law in the United States of America. “We are proud of the brave men and women of ICE who are facing a 1000% increase in assaults as cowardly politicians and activists encourage violence against them. “Because this increase in violence against them and doxing of their spouses and children, our officers often wear masks to protect themselves and their families from being targeted by highly sophisticated gangs like Tren de Aragua and MS-13, criminal rings, murderers, and rapists. Update: The feds visited several small camps, including one at Washington Circle last night, then backed off. They're back today, trashing tents and moving down Pennsylvania Ave to 25th and L to clear other clusters of tents. Seems like after a quiet evening, Trump is ramping up clearings today...

Homeless outreach sources tell me the feds will lead a citywide encampment clearing tonight. MLK Library, where many folks congregate, is expected to be among the targets. The fear is that the feds may start arresting people as part of this. D.C.'s shelters are full: Many will have no place to go.
