Oh no Dolly Parton died. She gave one book a month to each enrolled child from birth until they enter kindergarten. Her Imagination Library gave books each month to 850,000 children in US, Canada, tUK, Australia, Ireland.In February 2018, she donated her 100 millionth free book. Thank you Dolly

I just saw a nice little video talking about lichen, and the narrator said that if you look closely there's science everywhere. I get it, but it's talking of relating to the natural parts of the world intellectually rather than FEELINGly. Isn't that imbalance why things are so screwed?

This is something I’ve written about in the context of ‘cosmic consciousness’ and ‘gnosis’ in the mystical experiences of William James, R.M. Bucke, and P.D. Ouspensky. Ouspensky, for example, had a tremendously powerful mystical experience looking at an ashtray – admittedly he was on nitrous oxide at the time – and William Blake, we know, saw heaven in a wildflower. Ouspensky had seen ashtrays before and Blake had seen flowers, but at the time of their mystical experiences, they were seeing these everyday things in a non-everyday way. The mystical experience, then, is not about *what* you see but *how* you see it.

Just had an official UK Gov warning about the severe risk of wildfires, on my phone. Of course, the first thing I did was click the button to shut down the alarming racket. Unlike text messages, however, these warnings leave no trace, so I couldn't finish reading what I'd missed.
