Hi! Genuine question I try to make my prose as transparent as possible so as to not ‘get in the way of the story’ I’m not sure that’s right (#amwriting short stories) Any strong arguments one way or the other? I usually only reach about 30 accounts - all help appreciated!

I tell people I had a poem published. A proper poem, in a real book. It was about 15 years ago in a Welsh Haiku collection, collated by my late, great poetry tutor Nigel Jenkins. I tell them the poem too: Half-remembered face ahead - a sudden shared interest in cloud formation
Tell you what’s tricky - it’s absolutely right that you read the journals & magazines to which you’re submitting, but, also, you KNOW you’re going to have to submit to a fair few to get picked up. Writing stories is EXPENSIVE dude #writingcommunity

Struggling with some edits The in-the-know folk seem to favour a really sparse, almost clinical style. “It’s what editors want” When I read though, I like a bit of decoration here or there. Some fluffy stuff that makes it feel like I know the writer. Normal, right?! Or naive? #amwriting
Came back to horror writing in May - had last dabbled about 15 years ago. Just picked up my second podcast acceptance in two weeks. Absolutely chuffing delighted! #AmWriting
Digging up some old stories with the intention of cutting Nightmare though - bit like when I have a ‘little bit’ of the cake I’ve told everyone I won’t eat A little bit here, a little bit there and BOOM - cake’s all gone and I’m just sitting here, belly wobbling as I laugh at those good intentions
