Forest Ecology Lecturer 🌳🦜 Studying tree methane processors in the Tropics 🇧🇷 📍University of Cumbria

Very excited for my first PhD paper to be published today. We demonstrate how belowground biogeochemistry plays a vital role in explaining differences in tree emitted methane between várzea and igapó floodplains of the Amazon 🇧🇷 Huge thanks to everyone involved ✨

The US government has been turned over to a group of extraordinarily ignorant people, and they are working to destroy science in this country. Cutting over half the NSF budget would save < 0.1% of the federal budget, but do incalculable harm. Simply heartbreaking. arstechnica.com/science/2025...

Me and Andy the Autosampler have had a tumultuous relationship these last 3 years. I’m convinced he knows it’s coming to an end between us because he keeps breaking down on me. The final day of isotope sampling has been 3 days long so far, and counting 😭 Pete the Picarro is looking shifty now too…

What a difference 6 months makes in the floodplains of the Amazon. Tefe lake now and back in May this year at the same spot from our hotel. Another extreme drought, but the waters are rising!
