I have absolutely no instincts when it comes to DIY. My partner’s away, the plug in the bathroom sink is stuck closed and the sink has water in it. So my brain just went to “well this is it. It’s stuck forever” Never occurred to me until I googled that I could just… soak up the water

It’s nice that despite the fact I’m now working full time in game development (though with history involved in ways I can’t talk about yet), other academics still reach out about publishing research and contributing to publications. Thank you for not forgetting about me and my research 🥲

While away at the weekend I read that Jacqueline Wilson book about the character from Girls in Love being grown up (I wanted a breezy read for by the pool). I read her books constantly when I was younger, so reading this and her using the phrase “sexy frock” felt like seeing an old relative.

Digitisation is great, but whenever I see people being like “yeah digitise everything, then you don’t need the originals!!” I despair. Even if you’re not interested in material culture, how *wildly* arrogant to think outcomes of digitisation are not as (if not more) vulnerable to decay and loss.
