#OnThisDay in 1944 the ‘Gypsy Family Camp’ at Auschwitz-Birkenau is liquidated. Around 1,400 Roma and Sinti were sent to Buchenwald and the remaining 2,897 inmates, mainly the elderly, women and children, were sent to the gas chambers at Birkenau.

Today is VE Day. Across the world, people filled the streets in celebration. These flags from our collection belonged to the Kubie family who fled Czechoslovakia to escape Nazi persecution, and flew these flags during the celebration of the end of the war. #VEday #WW2
