That was a very nice W for the #Astros. Wesneski looked good again. He gave the team 6 innings of 2 run baseball. That's excellent. Javier did an admirable job last night. The difference was offense. It was good to see Altuve slide across home while avoiding a tag. Hopefully a series win tomorrow.

I like Miles Straw when he played for the #Astros. Still kinda root for him. All I can think while watching this game is "Miles Straw never hit that well when he played in Houston".

chat can anyone verify that every single Flock camera has about 2-3 Ibs of copper and about 1-2 grams of gold
So...Imai is wildly inconsistent as a starter...but a freakin' beast when he comes out of the bullpen? Imai pitches 3 innings of no run ball almost effortlessly. #Astros pitching have done their part; time for the offense to get busy.
Former #Astros outfielder Myles Straw just tried to tag up from 3rd on a Vlad Jr. Pop up to deep first base territory. He was out by a mile. Straw is still fast, but not that fast.
The #Astros didn't do much to improve for a lengthy playoff run. However, they didn't mortgage the future for what I expect to be a short playoff run...if they make it that far. Varsho probably contributes more for 2026 than Arrighetti will.
The Astros are done, multiple sources tell @theathletic.com. Daulton Varsho is their only trade deadline acquisition. For a second consecutive season, Houston fails to fortify a scuffling starting rotation that will rely on pitchers returning from lengthy layoffs.
I had the exact same thought this morning. #Astros
Maybe they will give us Springer for a discount. 😀
James Talarico on Texas officially banning THC: “Texans aren’t going to stop smoking weed and eating edibles because politicians in Austin say so. We are now telling full-grown adults how to live their lives. This is the nanny state at its worst; this is big government at its worst."
I figured the Jays would find a taker for him. #Astros
The Astros won 7-3. They are 58-55. The Astros have won 11 of 12, have a 2.5 game lead in the American League West and never trailed during this three-game evisceration of the Texas Rangers.
Thirteen days ago, I wrote this. Obviously, a lot has changed. The #Astros have won 11 of 12 and the starting pitching has gone from abyssal to not bad. Yordan continues to mash and the team finds themselves atop the AL West by 2.5 games. A lot can still happen, yes. Gonna try be optimistic, though.
Good article. I would disagree with the statement that the #Astros can't make the postseason (the AL West is pretty horrible), but I agree with the overall sentiment that they should sell. "Making" the postseason shouldn't be the criteria for success. "Winning" in the postseason should.
In their never ending quest for any kind of content to fill the empty spaces, I fear this guy turned to AI for these trade suggestions. Never mind that the #Astros are now lead their division (barely), many of the names mentioned on this list are likely non-starters in the worst of times.
One brain cell bebopping around
So the #Astros traded Shewmake to the #Brewers on July 12 for cash. The #Brewers DFA'd him on July 24 and he cleared waivers. The #Astros now have signed him to a minor league deal and stashed him away for depth at Sugarland.
Alright...things are looking good right now. Let's hope the #Astros can close the deal. Sorry...it's been a long year already.
Didn't expect the #Twins to be buyers (but I totally expected the #Mets to be sellers). Not on my bingo card, but an interesting development.
Glad the #Astros got the sweep...I think. Just wondering what this does to the whole trade dead line drama and if the team will trade away the future just to make the playoffs. We'll see...still quite a bit of baseball left, but I don't see Houston as sellers between now and Monday.
The #Astros have been getting a few extra outs in the 9th. I know the Angels aren't great. Also, is it Grain Alcohol Night at Anaheim Stadium? BOGO Everclear shots? There are a few very vocal/drunk fans tonight.

#Astros win in the 9th for the 2nd game in a row. Tomorrow, it's Wesneski in his first MLB start in 14 months. www.mlbtraderumors.com/2026/07/astr...

Why do you pitch to Yordan? Especially this year. #Astros
Imai seems like a nice guy, but the #Astros might need him to work on some stuff. I still hope he can put things together, though.
Tatsuya Imai’s rotation spot is in peril. Story with @samblum3.bsky.social - www.nytimes.com/athletic/747...
Kinda cool I stayed up for that one. The #Astros come from behind to beat the Angels 6-4. Javier pitches 5 innings in relief of an off-again Imai (that was yanked in the 1st). Yes, I know the Angels are awful, but it was nice to see the comeback anyway. Also, Javier might belong in the rotation.
The #Astros rally with a huge 6th inning. Starting pitching continues to be a question mark, but a "W" is a "W". I'll take it.
