I scrapped a bit of what I wrote yesterday in favor of an epilogue - so 550 new words, but scrapped 250ish, leaving me 700 to polish off the hockey short story. I could have a first draft done tomorrow! #amwriting

Today, August 4, 2026, is the setting of Ray Bradbury’s short story “There Will Come Soft Rains” about a fully automated house continuing on after the family who lived there and the world around it died in a nuclear blast.
From my romance sequel, "Where We Land." Emerson and Valeria have been together about a year at this point, and he's navigating how to best support her when Big Life Stuff happens while respecting her wishes.

They start as classmates, then become gym buddies and then friends. Emerson’s been into Valeria the entire time. Valeria fights her feelings (we don’t see this) but realizes he is a sweet boy who really cares for her.

My pepper is finally ripening, bathed the cat and trimmed some of her mats (she’s 18 and can’t groom herself and won’t let me brush much), bought patio chair cushions, planted some carrot seeds, went to Trader Joe’s I am squarely in my 30s

I have a spreadsheet to track voice dictation session word counts for my novel WIP, but that's mostly because it's an experiment for me. I have another sheet to compare word count in chapters from draft 1 to 2. I am doing this mostly for social content lol

I'm Hope and I just published my debut novel, At Your Pace. I am drafting a short story for a Valentine's Day anthology and editing the sequel to At You Pace! I started writing fiction novels in early 2025. I got my start doing playwriting and creative nonfiction in college 10+ years ago.

I think my IG ads worked ** ** I spent $10 promoting my book in Australia and got someone to read 9 pages in KU Hopefully they come back to finish the book sometime, but a small win is a win!
I turned in a side hustle assignment, cashed in a free thriftbooks book 2 days before it expired, did the healthcare enrollment, did yoga, brushed my cat, wrote a few hundred short story words, made an ebook sale, and someone read 53 kindle pages of my book. Successful day

From near the end of At Your Pace. In the first draft this was the last line of the whole story, but I reworked some stuff to have a different ending note. This is sort of spoilery, but I like it because it discusses physical intimacy in a loving way.
