THE END OF OAK STREET - We finally have another great dinosaur movie! David Robert Mitchell traps an Amblin-esque neighborhood among these magnificent beasts and revels in watching them go to town. JUMANJI with a bit more teeth. Love summer action blockbuster star Anne Hathaway!

HER PRIVATE HELL - Nicolas Winding Refn's REPO! THE GENETIC OPERA. Fairy tale, giallo, sci-fi pulp, action movie, erotic thriller and neo-noir free floating in a delirious dream state world where everyone is hot and horny and Pino Donaggio is supreme. Of course I loved it!
It’s driving me crazy that I kind of had a ball with PINOCCHIO: UNSTRUNG. A bloody ‘90s DTV slasher that somehow elicits a surprising amount of charm through simply giving into its lunacy. I laughed a whole lot. You’ll know if you’ll have a good time based on this image alone.
I could go see THE ODYSSEY again, but decided to come out for the real movie event of the summer.

Who knew the key to revitalizing PARANORMAL ACTIVITY would be through the stage? Starts off as a reimagining of the first movie before transforming into its own terrifying beast (and a mean one too). This production gave me some major goosebumps. I really loved it!
Another awesome batch of 35mm goodies for this year's Trailer Treats at the Brattle. Theme: 2001. There was a moment where I thought it would be funny to include ZARDOZ because of the "beyond 2001" tagline at the start, and sure enough, there it was! letterboxd.com/horrorbiwrit...
Brattle Trailer Treats 2026 - 2001
(35MM) - I'd like to thank the Brattle for launching an emotional sneak attack with the "Total Eclipse of the Heart" music video preshow (RIP). There was a moment where I thought it would be funny to ...

I am very excited for TEENAGE SEX AND DEATH AT CAMP MIASMA.
EVIL DEAD BURN is the first one of these I have little desire to revisit. Deadite carnage by way of a thudding and deeply unpleasant domestic violence allegory that keeps hitting the same note and then hits it even harder. Even the gore is masked in this ugly grey overcast.
A little MAGIC MIKE XXL on a hot summer day does the body good. www.slashfilm.com/1191905/an-o...
An Ode To Joe Manganiello's Gas Station Challenge In Magic Mike XXL - SlashFilm
Let's hear it for Joe Manganiello, aka Big Dick Richie, and his performance in Magic Mike XXL. You know the one I'm talking about.

I haven't stopped thinking about that insane opening footage, which transforms JACKASS: BEST AND LAST from a farewell compilation picture into something much more interesting. www.keenesentinel.com/elf/the_bing...
'Jackass' Goes Out With a Literal Bang
There’s something kind of wistful about hearing the words “Hi, I’m Johnny Knoxville, welcome to ‘Jackass’” for the final time. It’s like a kick to the crotch, but in a

The spirit of Buster Keaton is alive and well in cinemas this weekend.
I think it’s pretty cool that MINIONS & MONSTERS takes great pride in introducing kids to the silent clowns. Even Muybridge, the Lumières and Méliès couldn’t resist capturing these little troublemakers. A minion uses a film splicer! Illumination’s best movie by a mile.
Summer nights are for insane double features like BREAKDOWN and FLIGHT PLAN on 35mm at the @somervilletheatre.bsky.social.
If you haven’t seen ERASER, the 1996 summer action movie in which Arnold Schwarzenegger duels off with an airplane, then it’s 30th anniversary today would be a great opportunity to do so! www.keenesentinel.com/elf/youve-ju...
You've Just Been Reappraised: It's Time Arnold Schwarzenegger's 1996 Summer Action Movie Gem 'Eraser' To Come Out of Hiding
The summer of 1996 was a pretty great time to be at the movies. Hollywood tentpoles cornered the market with the likes of “Twister,” “The Rock,” and “Mission: Impossible” (which

Enjoyed spending my 31st at the @somervilletheatre.bsky.social with two cozy Sunday afternoon cable westerns
Real glad this AMC is giving me the BACKROOMS treatment on my way to SCARY MOVIE in the further most part of the theater.
This was me during any given second watching GENTLEMEN PREFER BLONDES for the first time at the Brattle tonight. Movies are this girl’s best friend, especially ones with the Technicolor luminescence of Marilyn and Jane.
I just want to thank ELLA ENCHANTED for this incredible reaction image.
The deeply underrated HUDSON HAWK turns 35 today! If you’ve never seen Richard E. Grant and Sandra Bernhard as a megalomaniacal supervillain couple obsessed with gold, microwave sushi and tanking the world economy for fun, then you’re missing out. www.keenesentinel.com/elf/1991-did...
1991 Didn't Deserve the Gonzo Slapstick Lunacy of 'Hudson Hawk'
Spaghetti out of a thermos, candy bar-designated CIA agents, an evil Wire Fox Terrier, are not concepts. These are sight gags “Hudson Hawk” keeps in its visual repertoire as paperweights.

I just think it’s interesting how the current premiere theatrical sci-fi series with color, groundbreaking visual effects, memorable creature designs, serialized storytelling, expansive worlds and rebels fighting against a fascist regime is AVATAR.
There are back-to-back homages to classic films that made me profoundly embarrassed to be watching this, let alone in a theater.
This is the Causeway.
It’s such a bummer that IS GOD IS probably won’t get its dues until it hits streaming. Go see it in a theater this weekend! It’s weird, tragic, hilarious, and an all-around great revenge road trip odyssey.
One of the more underrated aspects of OBSESSION is that it could so easily stop the movie in order to explain the people/rules behind the One Wish Willow, but Curry Barker wisely gives you just enough to get by. Much funnier to approach its mechanical horrors so nonchalantly.
Love seeing everyone talk about how frighteningly great Inde Navarrette is in OBSESSION. I think we’ve barely scratched the surface of what’s she’s doing here. www.keenesentinel.com/elf/the_bing...

The only body we know what it's like to control is the one we occupy, which only makes it more unsettling when our autonomy is stripped away by someone else.
