Minions & Monsters felt like a spiritual successor to Gremlins 2, I’m not gonna lie. I got to introduce it to my older brother who has never seen any of the Despicable Me/Minions movies. It was a treat, a love letter to Hollywood, and omg way too smart for a Minions movie.

At 100, there's no question that Mel Brooks is foundational. His films and comedy have quite literally shaped pop culture. Just as important, I feel, was his work producing films for artists like Lynch and Cronenberg. Championing those with visions different than his own to the benefit of us all.
