If you’ve ever fostered a rabbit, you’ve probably heard it before: “Why don’t you just keep them?” It’s a question one of our long-time fosters hears all the time.
Katrina, Badtz-Maru, Pekkle, and Peaseblossom are just a few of the new rabbits at House Rabbit Society! Learn more about them and all the rabbits we have available at houserabbit.org/adoptables.
When a bunny isn't eager for food or their favorite treat, it's a universal signal to their guardians that something is wrong. It's enough to make even a seasoned rabbit guardian's stomach drop! Read houserabbit.org/updates/2026-june-when-your-rabbit-stops-eating for more information.
Send a sweet treat, enrichment toy, or much-needed shelter supplies by shopping our Amazon wish list! Browse and purchase directly from our wish list to brighten a bunny’s day and to help keep operations at HRS hopping: amazon.com/gp/registry/wishlist/EFHP270O17NT/ref=cm_wl_rlist_go_o
If you have lost a beloved rabbit, we invite you to join our monthly pet loss support group, hosted monthly on Zoom. These gatherings are open to anyone who has lost a rabbit companion (need not be an HRS rabbit). Learn more and sign up at houserabbit.org/classes.
Tomorrow, June 6th is our monthly rabbit essentials pantry at our facility. This free resource is open to Bay Area residents facing financial hardship, no proof of income required. Learn more at houserabbit.org/pantry.
Early last month, a local shelter reached out to us after a mother rabbit unexpectedly gave birth to a litter of 8 rabbits at their facility. They contacted us for help, and we were happy to be able to step in.
Looking for a friend for your rabbit? Let us help! This month and next, we're tripling the amount of speed dating appointments available at our facility. Everybunny deserves a little love! Learn more about our adoption process and sign up for an appointment at houserabbit.org/bonding-adoption. 💘
HRS is pleased to offer free weekly and monthly Zoom classes that are open to anyone, regardless of location. Register now at houserabbit.org/classes!
TOMORROW! You're invited to our spring open house on Saturday, May 16th. It will be a fun, family-friendly day of activities and of course, rabbits! There's no ticket for entry.
Can you foster a rabbit right now? We have had 6 local shelters reach out recently with transfer requests. We would love to help but we need a few extra hands to make it possible. We need 5 loving foster homes to make space for the incoming rabbits ASAP!
We're happy to announce we have several resources available in Japanese! Visit houserabbit.org/japanese-resources to download, print, and distribute handouts and care guides to those who could use a little extra support with their rabbit in Japanese.

Right now, thanks to a generous donor, all gifts are being matched, up to $15,000, in support of our spay/neuter program and our veterinary training initiative. Give now at houserabbit.org/donate and help us reach our grand total goal of $30,000!
At House Rabbit Society, we believe rabbits are wonderful companions, but they're not for everyone. If you've never had a rabbit before, we encourage you to spend time on our website, houserabbit.org, learning more about them, and not purchasing one impulsively for the Easter holiday.
We would like to thank KRON 4 News for having Larissa Church, our communications & development manager, on last Sunday's broadcast to talk about our adoptable rabbits. Check it out below! www.kron4.com/video/nonpro...
Please don't impulsively get a rabbit for Easter before you're ready for the commitment! For those who have thoroughly educated themselves about rabbit care and have decided to share their home with a rabbit, please adopt from your local shelter or rabbit rescue! 💖🐰
Did you know that rabbits poop 200-300 times per day? That's a lot of poop! 💩 If you're not ready for a lifetime commitment of cleaning up poop, consider fostering a rabbit first so you can experience what it's like caring for one before you make a lifetime, 10-year commitment to adopt!
Is your bunny an expert escape artist who's forced you to get creative with bunny-proofing? Have you navigated a challenging rabbit bond and learned valuable lessons along the way? Or do you share your life with a rabbit with medical issues or mobility challenges who inspires you every day?

This Easter, choose compassion: adopt, don't shop! Every year around this time, rabbits are purchased on impulse as gifts for children, seen as seasonal accessories or living toys. But rabbits are not low-maintenance pets, and many of them are later surrendered to shelters or abandoned outdoors.
