Putting together a simplified map of the ✨Port Authority Bus Terminal.✨ Walked through (probably) all the levels today. Somehow it makes even less sense once you figure out how it’s laid out. I have so many questions. They all begin with “Why”.

Escalators up to Gates 401 to 421 at Port Authority Bus Terminal. Escalator at left is switched off (temporarily stairs), escalator at right is blocked off, out of order.

A lot of transit systems assume all their riders are seasoned riders who live in their city. This makes it really difficult to attract both new local riders and casual visitors. Secret rules help nobody, but they're really common. "Oh everyone knows this bus stops over there now!"

Just rode the subway with headphones and @transit.app "Go" routing for the first time. It gives audio reminders of how many stops you have left, even when using other apps (I was also playing a game AND watching a TikTok live stream). Huge accessibility win. 🙌🙌😍🚆

We just got back from a cross-country Amtrak trip! 9 stops, 4 nights on the train, and got around without cars *almost* everywhere. Highlights from several stops coming soon.

Dear transit agencies of the world, please include on your home page: - What kind of transit you have - What (if anything) each of them costs Visitors laden with luggage don't have the time or patience to pore over 20 pages and as many PDFs.

Really trying to not take a car, but Lyft prices: $15 for one unwalkable mile from the bus stop to my destination. $17 from where I currently am ten miles away.

Apple Maps found me a slightly less busy intersection to do... this... in. Both the Apple and Google directions send me walking in areas with no sidewalks. I fear I may Uber the last mile.
