Review: (Mostly) Human Resources by Grace Viall ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 Honestly... expected more Jackalopes. This book is perfect for fans of X Files and rom-coms, which feels like an odd combination. I promise it works. Viall does an excellent job blending Appalachian folklore and genre-bending fiction. #booksky

I'm so tired of AI slop literally everywhere.... Ads, social media, articles, community events, etc. We did all of this pre-AI, we can do all of this without it now. It's all ugly and one-note anyway. 🫩

Review: Moon Deer by Yoann Kavege ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ An absolutely stunning graphic novel whose largely silent work is matched by beautiful art and quick pacing. This has a huge twist that caught me totally by surprise. My only wish is that the end was a bit more justice. #booksky 📚💙

Checking my netgalley reviews and just realized it looks like someone either ran mine through AI or tweaked it with flowery language. My reviews aren't even that good. Why the hell would you run it through AI instead of reading the damn book? 🫩

Review: The Fast Track by Angelica Cheng ⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 This was a super quick (kinda predictable) romance read full of racing and battling expectations. I loved the humanity of the main characters, but struggled with some of the dynamics I found more problematic due to power imbalances. #booksky 📚💙

Review: Never Whistle at Night Part II: Back for Blood ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This anthology felt less intense than the previous installment, though it doesn't pull any punches. I think shifting the order of these stories could strengthen their impact if desired. #booksky 📚💙

Review: Kiki and the New Magic by Eiko Kadono ⭐️⭐️ I'm not sure why this book was written? It was fine, enjoyable even, but it didn't really introduce a lot of newness into Kiki's world. I felt like I was reading a rewrite of the original story. #booksky 📚💙

Review: Flickerstate by F. A. Davidson ⭐️⭐️⭐️ A quite stunning YA debut whose biggest pitfall is the pacing. This story could have easily extended to two or three books. Such a unique magic system combined with an intriguing plot. 📚💙 #booksky
