The question is not can they be “generously included” but whether they camouflage the rejection of an ecumenical council of the Church which we empirically know now that they do! This was never about liturgy it was always about power and rejection of renewal. Let them go!

VATICAN CITY (RNS) — As prominent prelates clash over the traditional Latin Mass, Pope Leo XIV’s response may reveal his deepest instincts about authority, unity and tradition.

I recall when an MP was murdered by a Nazi shouting “Britain First!”, we had weeks of molten political/media terror about the abstract concept of divisiveness and social media abuse, because that’s much more conducive to furthering their shared goals, which do not include resisting the far right.

I remember a time when being very left wing and Catholic was both common inside the church and recognised outside it as something familiar on the politica spectrum! In the UK context it feels like a culture that has gone and it is a significant loss!

I'm unclear on what level of delusion or amount of hard drugs would be needed to get to the conclusion that Burnham is a return to "Old Labour" and then use a pic of Benn and Foot for that fever dream.

It’s interesting that a powerful religious left is developing in America led by clergy and lay people in response to Trump and ICE! We desperately need that here in the face of the appropriation of Christianity by the far right.

You can tell from my predictions why I don’t gamble 😂. Elvis has Dundee really well organised. Credit to them. We still look half cooked. Thought Tierney was outstanding tonight. We need more quality in the squad to get the best out of Hogh! Starters and squad players required!

Oot for a pizza with our kid before we head to Parkhead for the game. I am renowned for my glass half empty attitude to Celtic predictions. However after last season I’m even tired of my own negativity. So Predicting a 4-0 win for Celtic tonight! Mon the Hoops 🍀✊🙏

Stephen McGowan’s analysis that if they could get away with rehiring Steve Clarke the SFA would,is absolutely accurate. There is no obvious candidate. If Scottish then who? I’m going suggesting management team of Scott Brown and Stephen Whittaker with an older coach supporting in Gary McAllister!

Between 1000 and 1987 only 25% of saints canonised in Catholicism were lay people and of them only half were married people. It’s changed moderately since then but it begs significant questions on both the process and perception of holiness.

Infantino going without serious reform of FIFA will change little systemically but it will kill this ridiculous part sell off of World Cup rights and is a sign of hope of holding narcissistic megalomania to account and removing it! I doubt there’d be a chance of him going if he hadn’t done this!

I want to own (as so few do!)that when he gave that ball away in that game I thought “what have we signed here”. Well what we signed was one of the greatest players to wear the hoops! A genius, a magician and he got who we are from the day he arrived! 🙏🍀✊

Nigel Farage struck a secret deal to return as Reform leader months before the election, and showed it to the treasurer in May 2024.So the man who claimed he “wasn’t involved in politics” and therefore didn’t need to declare gifts was already cutting leadership deals behind the scenes.😆

"Call it democracy, or call it democratic socialism, but there must be a better distribution of wealth within this country for all God's children." —Martin Luther King, Jr.

We should never forget how the BBC has changed this country by giving endless airtime to Nigel Farage and other rightwing extremists, while shutting out progressive voices.

And why is #r4today giving (yet again) such prominence to a hair-brained scheme that has little chance to ever be implemented? A GE is unlikely soon and the threat of Reform winning it is apparently receding. What is the justification for legitimising it?
